I am relatively new to fifth wheel camping, but lately I have had problems with my toilet backing up. Now it has come to the point where it will not go done at all. First off how do I fix this and second of all what do I do to stop this from happening again.

Are you connected to a sewer or dump outlet and do you leave the black tank valve open? If so, close the black tank valve and only dump the black tank when it is 2/3 full and then flush with grey tank.

You may have a blockage in your down pipe from the toilet or you may have a mountain or pile up rising from the floor of the tank. In either case a tank cleaning wand or a hose with a blaster nozzle will break it up. Most RV stiores or Walmart carry the wand or the nozzle. ANd like the previous poster suggests, never leave your black tank valve open to the sewer, let the tank fill then drain and flush it all at once.

I had a trailer that had an elbow before the poop hit the tank.Plugged up all the time. Solution was to put more water in bowl to flush and less tp.

Some manufacturers did not seal the roof vent for the toilet to the tank, after driving it falls into the tank and becomes an obstruction. That is obvious from the roof, as the pipe is all the way down to the cap hitting the flange. Or, someone put the wrong toilet paper, or an object that won't desolve, down the toilet and it is blocking the drain. You have to get a toilet cleaner,(one that connects to a garden hose and goes into the tiolet where when you turn it on spins the water around and desolves the solids), about $16 at any Rv supply store. Do it with the outside black water drain open and the grey water close, or it could back up into the grey water tank. Make sure your sewer pipe is held down as when it lets go it will posibly back up the sewer, if it is not flowing well. Good luck!
