4x4 Steve first thing I'd do is weigh your trailer. Your stated weight sounds a little light to me for a 26 footer. Other than that I think you're ok, just take it easy.
PSNFM wrote: You guys are kidding right? A 4,000 lb trailer can't be pulled by a half ton? My TH weighs in at 3500 lbs, plus the Teryx at 1,200, plus all my food and supplies, its probably somewhere around 7k. My half ton Titan pulls it like a dream, like its not even there. Also, wanted to add I do NOT have the factory tow package and have crappy 2.937 gear ratios in the rear. Am I pushing it too, just because it feels OK? My truck achieved 9 MPG on my recent trip to Pismo.
EDIT: I also have a 6.5" lift and 35" tires which decreases tow capacity even more. So am I asking for trouble?
According to the hype Titans and Tundras can pull anything. You've thrown a high profile vehicle and a tall gear ratio into the mix and then compounded it with 35" tires. So are you asking for trouble?

Install a tranny cooler. Use a weight distributing hitch. Use LT and not P rated tires.

Well, I dont believe the "hype." I bought my truck not because of hype but because I got a smokin' deal on it. Keep in mind that I do use a WD hitch with sway control, LT rated tires, and a brake controller. No skimping on the hitch I added either, I went with a factory set up designed and engineered for my truck.
Sure, I might be pushing it a little bit but the vehicle is rated to tow 6800 lbs without the factory tow package mainly because of the gear ratio. The lack of options for the Titan's rear diff is what has kept me from upgrading that. If I could, at a reasonable cost, I would. I tow 300+ miles to Pismo once a year and several times 100 miles each way to Glamis each season.
I never drive much faster than 60 mph, and tow ONLY in 4th. I am not afraid to use my 3rd gear either. Oh, and my truck is equipped from the factory with TWO tranny coolers and a Tow/Haul mode built right into the trans.
So, I ask again, am I asking for trouble?

Not the same truck by any means but my 03 Avalanche with 5.3 and a 4.10 rear will struggle on hills heading out into PA/OH on trips. My WW SX18 probably weighs in around 6K with two track bikes (R6's) and water plus some gear, personally I would not go any heavier with the truck. It is setup with a Equalizer hitch and Prodigy controller and the truck is rated right around 8,200 max towing from the factory, figure the 80% of max rule and I am close. I did add a nice B&M aftermarket cooler on my truck and normally do not drive over 70, stay around 65 most of the time.

youre gonna get people that will tell you yes, and then people who tell you no
here is what i have seen and done
for about 1.5 years, i towed 5000 lb dry toyhauler (10k gvwr) with a 2003 tahoe z71. i didnt win any races, and sometimes felt like i was beatin the @#$@ outta the poor thing. but it did it
a good friend of mine towed a 26 ft front sleeper with a GVWR of 12k with a tahoe too...and never had a problem either
were we lucky?? some would say yes......... would i do it again...... probably not...but you have to get into the game somewhere
