I have not stayed at the Expo, but fun things to do around Tulsa include: Tulsa Zoo, Gilcrease Museum, Discovery land-home to the musical Oklahoma, Philbrook Museum of Art, and the Oklahoma Aquarium in nearby Jenks. The Oklahoma Aquarium is one of our favorite places to visit.

CG right at the EXPO. Real nice facility. Lots of places in Tulsa to eat. It all depends upon what you want. Our favorite is Stone Horse in the Utica Square off 21st and Utica. Another the French Hen, have to look that up in the phone book. They have all the chains.

Last month, we thought that we might stay at the Expo Center, called on the cell phone, "yes there is room, but we are having a horse event". The wife and I thought horses and some high temps, might make a bit uncomfortable.
So Plan 2. COE Bluff Landing east of town on the Vertigris River. Not bad, some 20 odd campsites with water and electric, (opposite sides though). However it is some 18 miles from the middle of town.
Check with the Expo to see what events are going on?
Have fun. We liked the Gilcrease Muesum.

We camped there last year for the National Dog Agility Championships. Not bad, but go for the pull throughs on the North end. The back-ins are pretty tight, and depending upon who is across the street from you, came be pretty tricky to back into. Also, back ins do not allow enough room for you to park your TV. They have a seperate area on the South side for parking. Plenty of room for rig and TV in pullthroughs. Folks working the desk were real nice and allowed me to move when I found it impossible to back in. As there are no events taking place, I would see if they would let you cruise around to find a place. As far as eating, head south to the interstate for all of the usual places. Good luck.

Thx. I told them I needed a bigger site as I had read on their site about some of the smaller sites and lack of room for TV.
I am familiar with all the restaurants down near 71st street, but it is always good to ask locals and others that are familiar with the area, where the best places are.

If you are a gambler, there is no shortage of casinos in town. The Cherokee's have a nice and new one just to the east of town off the interstate at Catoosa. One of the nice features at Catoosa is that a large section is non-smoking these days.

ti amo's at 61st and Sheridan is a very good Italian restaurant.
Hideaway Pizza is good. The restaurant on 15th Street (1419 E 15th or Cherry st) is more interesting than the one on 51st & Memorial but the food is the same at both. Beyond that there are only a few hundred good restaurants in and around Tulsa.

In addition to the above suggestions I'll add:
If you like Mexican, Ricardos on 41st between Yale & Sheridan (In the strip mall behind Panera Bread) is our favorite. Its a family owned restraunt. They have the BEST Chili Relenos (sp?) EVER! And their frozen sangrias are really good too!
A drive downtown Tulsa is nice just to see the beautiful Art Deco Buildings. Theres also the Cherry Street District (now 15th St). Its full of quaint little shops and restraunts. The Tulsa Garden Center at Woodward Park is nice and theres Philbrook Art Museum.
If the weather is good, just for kicks, you might enjoy a movie at the Admiral Twin Drive-in. One of the few drive ins left.
If your into Antiquing, Jenks is a nice little town for that with little shops lining the main street. Jenks also is home to the Okalhoma Aquaruim
And Riverwalk
A nice place to see/visit is The Tallgrass Praire Preserve. Its further out (about an hr drive) near Pawhuska, OK.

*Note - Discovery Land is already closed down for the season.
Not to deter your plans but I thought you might like a weather heads up - Its supposed to rain all weekend. Theres a tropical storm system in the West thats heading this way and hurricane Ike is expected to head up this way Sunday. Both storm systems are expected to colide in this area over the weekend bringing storms and high winds. Just thought you might like to know...
I hope you enjoy your visit to our area
