Hi,

We recently bought a new Keystone Springdale travel trailer and I am looking for the clamps to hold the awning in place from the wind. We had a tent trailer and the awning torn on a windy day so of course I don't want this to happen to our new trailer. Doe's anyone know where I can purchase these clamps or de-flappers reasonably? We are camping in late October and on Thanksgiving and it can get quite windy in the mountains. Any help is much appreciated!!!

Thanks!

I want to suggest an awning strap in addition to the deflappers. Cheap insurance that should be part of every trailer owners kit. Prevents the wind from lifting up your awning and upending it through the roof. I know from experience.

These are the ones I prefer, available at Walmart. I use two on each end of the awning.
Camco awning deflapper

For tie downs I like the happy hook.

My rule of thumb is: If it's flapping, roll it up.

It doesn't take much for the wind to fold an awning up.

We first saw the awning strap in the last CG we were in. We have the tie downs and de-flappers but I would like to find the actual strap. I have been looking, but not in the right place - cannot find them. Any suggestions? The strap we saw went over the entire awning in the middle and held it down. It really helped on the trailer we saw it on. I would like to pick it up for my husband.

I agree though, roll it up when the wind gets bad - not worth the extra expense.

Walmart is where we purchased all of ours and 4 are a lot better than two. I don't concern myself much about wind tearing the awning but it sure can bend the support poles. When the awning is properly deployed and locked down still attached to the trailer it's not likely to lift in the wind because it would nave to bend the support poles to do so. If you don't lock them down then they CAN lift easily. Make sure you read the instructions and follow them.

I use the deflappers and they do work very well, BUT, if I leave the CG or go to bed at night, the awning goings up and that's all I have to say.
