Just talked to an alignment guy and he said they set each tire seperatly as far as the toe goes, got me thinking when someone sets the toe lets say 1/16 inch is that all together or one tire just wondering

Ask your alignment guy how he sets each toe-in separately on vehicles with only one adjustment screw that changes the toe-in toe-out. You can get some pretty interesting creative vague answers with that.

That would be tricky. I alays thought all vehicles had treaded outer tie rod ends.

Generally the spec is total. The computerized machines may set each wheel separately in which case the total spec is divided in half. Both sides are adjusted separate on most cars to keep the steering wheel straight. Some RVs only adjust on one side.

Alignment machines measure toe in for each wheel since they are independently adjustable. But toe in is always stated in total. So if your car has 1/16" of toe in, each wheel is toed in 1/32" from 0. And as a previous poster noted this does not apply to cars trying to turn left on purpose.

Not all of them. My grand wagoneer has a single adjustment near the center to lengthen or shorten the tie rod. There's a second adjustment on the pushrod that goes direct to the power steering arm however it has no effect on anything other than straightening the steering wheel.

Some vehicles have a single adjustment for toe, some DO have individual adjustments (a little more work under the vehicle, but no re-centering of steering wheel.
Do not ASSUME the alignment guy is wrong-- look under yours and see what you have.
