I have no problem backing up a motorhome, but I'm working on learning to back up the fifth wheel. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I'll get it eventually.

Something you just can't do with a DW.
I choked on my Sprite when I read that...lol!

Hubby does the backing up, but we have our signals down so well that we never have to speak or yell or wave all around. We almost always get it right on the first try.

Once my BIL stepped in to help hubby back up and he was waving all over so I gently pushed him aside and with a few quick signals had hubby backed in perfectly as usual. Sis and BIL had never seen us do that before and were VERY impressed. To us, it's so normal we don't even think about it.

He is NOT allowed to stuff me in the storage compartment though!

I do all the parking unassisted. My wife can't walk. I just get out now & then to take a good look all around and up and down. The fact is the driver has the ultimate responsibility for everything that happens. Don't blame your helper if you do something dump like back into a tree limb, run over the neighbors dog, or whatever. It really irritates me to see some jerk yelling at his wife because he, the driver, doesn't know what the hell he's doing.

Hubby's a former semi driver - I used to sell either horse trailers or hot tubs in previous businesses, which involved a lot of trailer backing. Usually, whoever happens to be in the driver's seat does the backing....but *I* was actually better at backing down our twisty driveway to the pole barn....LOL!!!

And yes, we have simple hand signals that we use, so we can back in almost anywhere and not make a sound.

Only have to back a small motorhome... DW is good at making sure I stay out of the trees etc... I am good with mirrors but have some dept perception problems so she helps let me know how far away from stuff I am.

I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere!

My wife makes sure we don't hit anything. Other than that...

I back up a little, get out and see if the angle is good. Back up some more and get out again if I feel I need to.

Agreed! We do the same. Although she hasen't learned the ins and outs of driving the rig fully yet, she's getting better.
We have the 2 way radios that we use all the time from geberal directions to campground communication, well worth the money.
I also use the marker to let me know where to stop. Usually the sewer hose to the port side rear tires work out good.

Wife gets out and directs me into the site using only hand signals. We find hands are better than the 2-way. But when it's time to pull onto the leveling ramps, she drives and I direct. She has a great touch on the gas to move the rig only the slightest little bit.
