It applies to their full line - including sleeping bags, packs, and even accesories. Really a nice dealer for Scouters.

Some background thoughts:

A tall tent, such as many 5-person and larger simply are too hard for shorter Scouts to put up. Also, many times the footprint available to Scouts is limited due to the density of campers. That is why I limit Scouts to 4-person tents, and they are plenty big for 2-3 Scouts with gear or Two adults w/ little kids. For adults, trust me, the 6' tall tent is WONDERFUL (I'm saying that after using 4-person tents for years).

If they are backpacking, then smaller/lighter tents are needed. Keep in mind that 2 Scouts can share parts of a 2 or 3 person tent. Typically a 2-person tent has room for one adult w/ gear or 2 kids without much gear.

BTW You'll be amazed at how much gear a few Scouts can spread throughout a little tent in just 1.5 days!!!

The non-outfitter tents are very good too, but Scouts are real hard on zippers especially, and also on floors.

Rules for tents (hint hint):
-before setting up, search for sticks and stones on ground and remove them
-put a plastic tarp under tent to protect floor from unseen sharp objects - size it to be about 6" smaller than footprint all around
-open zippers ALL the way before entering/exiting
-no shoes inside tents - that's what the vestibules are for
-keep screens as open as possible at night for ventilation - even in cold weather
-no food or fire in tents (one attracts animals, the other kills)
-dry the tent absolutely completely before storing it - moisture-fed mildew will destroy the tent quickly

P.S. When I ordered my son's tent I thought ahead and ordered an extra set of poles. I'm happy to say they've been very tough and we haven't need to use them - yet. Hind sight says that probably wasn't needed.

I wonder if Scouts Canada has a similar discount with a manufacturer.

thanks for the discount information Ken2k3d. I'm deffinetly going to check this out.

this first campout will be me, the wife, and my son. We had a tentagon1210 for the whole family and was plenty big. Really to big for what I think I want now. I think I want, and what ken said, something smaller due to not knowing how big of a spot we will be getting at hte jambories and such.

We have been in scouts for over a year now and this is the first time I have heard of this discount. How do you go about getting this discount? Do you order directly from the factory? Thanks for your help.

Call them and order over the phone. They were nice to me when I called. And we're very happy with the gear we bought.
