Thanks for the suggestions, Visalia! You would have no problems going into Sequoia National Park with your truck and camper. Most of the hunters we saw as we were leaving Friday morning had 1 ton trucks towing a 31 ft or better trailer into Big Meadows. No hookups, but access okay! Just take Visalia's 62 to 180 E to get into the park. From the entrance you can go to a number of campgrounds all within 3 to 25 miles of the park entrance. We came back via 62 to the 99 and had no problems.

Since we are transplants from Southern Oregon and my sweetie grew up near Eureka, CA, we are partial to the Siskiyou mountains. Siskyou Lake is beautiful and a very nice campground. We also love Whiskeytown which is 15 miles from Redding. The lakes west of here are beautiful but the roads are not "big rig" friendly.

Enjoy!

DazzleD, you probably did the right thing by getting out of Sequoia before the snow hit -- but seeing the Sequoias in deep snow is a real treat -- I am posting a link to our blog with pix of the blizzard of March 2006 (snowshoeing!) and will try to post a picture -- the pix don't always work:
