I live in Southern California and I'm going to semi retire in months. Iv'e been offered a management possission in Spokan, Wa. I'm a shorts and T-shirt kind of guy and my buddies think I'm crazy. Is that a nice area? Would this be a good move?

I live in Spokane, moved here 25 years ago from So. Cal. Are you planning on living here year round? Spring temps are cool. Summers are warm to hot. Fall is cool to cold. Winter is cold. I wear shorts year round since I retired. Unless the wind is blowing in the winter. The winters are kind of fun for the first few years. Unless you have to work outside. My plans are to head south for the winters. Hope this helps. If you have any question about the Pacific Northwest just ask.

I was born in Southern California and lived there my whole life. I am now fulltime in my motorhome. I was visiting a friend in Spokane last fall and I decided to stick around for the first snow. It was very pretty. My friend said "Don't worry, it will melt off realy quick so you can move the motorhome." It snowed again. He said "This won't last." It snowed again. I was stuck on his property for the whole winter. I ended up hiring a guy with a Bobcat to move the snow away from the rig (there wasn't any more room to shovel it away). On the coldest days, I was going through a 20# tank of propane every 24 hours.
You'll love it.

IMHO Spokane is a soso area. Like others have mentioned the weather is definitely 4 season with winters ranging from sort of mild to raging blizzard. I have been there when there was 4 feet of snow in town and only 1 rut to drive on. I have also been there when it was in the 40's and the wind blowing really hard. Not a place to spend winters in an RV. North and East of Spokane there are some really nice areas to camp/play. But you must remember that the Spokane valley is right on the edge of a high planes area.

I might be able to supply some information if I knew which campground you are considering.
