Have been hearing all the horror stories about stations running out of gas and long wait times in the Mtns of NC and Tn, but since I tow with a diesel does anyone know about the availability of diesel in the Cherokee NC and Townsend Tn areas? Planning a trip up that way next week and would like to know how things are.

We've had no problems getting diesel anywhere near the Ashville area but have seen mile long gas lines.

Although gas has been hard to find at times around the part of Southeast TN where I live, I have seen no shortage of diesel. You should not have any problems.

Diesel fuel is available in Townsend at BP for $3.999 gal. Try to fuel anywhere but Cherokee... see article below. Reg gas at $5.00 gal

I just read in the local newspaper that a diesel shortage is a very real concern in our area. I have not seen a station that is out yet but supply is getting low. Buy it when you can. I wouldn't drop below a half tank if coming into East TN now.
