We are going to pick up our new Sunset Trail on Sat, is there any
little things I should ask, have them show me or look at?

Congratulations on your new Sunset Trail. Take it slow and easy, ask a lot of questions and take a lot of notes. Some folks even record their PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) for future reference.

There are some great PDI checklists out there, just do a search on "PDI".

Have fun and Happy RVing, travel safe.

You don't have to struggle with a search. I've done it for you. Here is a Link to a Pre Deliver Inspection. This should give you a good start.

Here is another one that is outside of this forum.

Great answers above.

The best advice I can give you is to "TAKE YOUR TIME ON THE PDI". Some dealers will try to rush you through the process and this will cause you memory problems later on as you'll not be able to remember all that was said or shown to you. If you can't take video/pictures....then by all means take lots of notes. Make sure both of you are present and asking all the questions you can think of. Have them go through the entire motions of each and every item on the unit. Understand how the electrical system works, especially the fridge, microwave, AC, furnace and television. Inspect the holding tank's gate valves, drain hoses/fittings, and procedure to empty each.

Above all understand the weights and weight limits of the trailer and your tow vehicle and how they interact with one another. Know about sway control and weight distribution. It would be best if you immediately went to the scales and weigh both the tow vehicle and trailer.

Now.... go have fun and welcome to the wonderful world of rv'ing.

I would climb onto the roof and look for large bubbles or an otherwise obviously loose membrane. Dealers are very hesitant to do anything about this problem after the sale.

Do not let them rush you through the PDI and make sure they demonstrate every system on the RV.

Next thing is do not sign any papers or give them any money until you have the Rv 100% correct. Do not accept an IOU or we'll take care of it when you bring it in for warranty work. 100% or it never leaves the lot. Make sure the dealer knows that you will not accept the Rv with any problems...fix it first.

Once they have the money, they control the game. As long as you have the money, it is under your control.

I agree with the other posters. Print out a good PDI list and check everything. I took a week (everyday after work) to go over my trailer with a fine tooth comb. I did one area/system at a time. By that Saturday it was completed. Make sure they fill the fresh water tank and have propane connected. I actually sat in there using everything each day I showed up. Try not to rush yourself on the day of delivery and if time allows, more than one day of inspecting would serve you better. Good Luck and Congratulations!

on edit: The sales guy told me he was impressed with my complete inspection and asked for a copy of the list I was using, as he had never seen one before. So, it appeared to me that there are folks that don't conduct complete inspections of their RVs before they take posession.

Yes, get one of those list for check-out. Having to bring back TT to the dealer is a pain.
