We spent a few days in the Branson area earlier this month. Overall we had a great time, but I have to say I was disappointed in Silver Dollar City. I thought the $50.00 cost for a ticket was excessive considering the park was only open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. While we will be going to Branson again, we won’t be visiting Silver Dollar City again.
We did the noon lunch cruise on the Branson Belle showboat on Table Rock lake. While the food was just OK, the entertainment was excellent. A great way to spend the afternoon.
Two other shows that we enjoyed were “Six” (aka the Knudson Brothers) and the Yakov Smirnoff show. Great entertainment and DW and I recommend both of these shows to our friends.
Instead of staying in a campground in Branson we chose to stay at Shoals Bend RV park in Forsyth, MO. The park is 10 miles east of Branson via a very curvy two lane road. The park had concrete roads and level concrete sites and was very clean. The owners went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay with them. When we return to Branson we will probably stay here again despite the curvy road leading to it.

That's why many of us around here call it "Steal Your Dollar City". It is a neat place, but we feel it's also overpriced. Of course, I remember when admission was FREE when it first opened in the 60's.

We actually LOVE Silver Dollar City! We used to go in after 3 and get the next day free but we love it so much we now get season passes!
And we always stay for the show in Echo Hollow. We are going in October and can't wait. We also love the shows and camping. Our son loves the IMAX. We stayed at Tablerock St. park this summer but our weekend is already filled up in Oct. I guess we will try some place new. We were thinking of trying the KOA on Safari road. I know we will have fun in Branson no matter what!

Were there the week of 9/21. By far we thought that the PRESLEY show was the best, lots of laughs.

SDC is only good if you get discount tickets or a season ticket at about $80. It is better during the high season when they have longer hours. They have some very good theater shows and an evening show that rivals many of the Branson shows. Their Christmas season is great. That said, if one is not going to get a season ticket and go about three times a year, it is pricey.

Sorry you were disappointed in SDC although sounds as if you enjoyed the stay overall. We started doing the season all city passes a few years ago - we are in Branson at least 3 - 4 times a year so it only makes sense for our family - we get our $$ worth as we know we will make multiple trips.
In fact - the DW and some friends did a "girls only" weekend a couple of weeks ago and were able to use the free passes that come with the season pass package. Two had season passes and 2 used free passes and covered lunch and such - win -win
DW and I were just there earlier this week on business - stayed in the new Hilton on the landing (was not our ususal RV trip) and it was beautiful. Even had time Tuesday night to catch the Dixie Stampede.
Side note- I had taken the DW and kids to Six Flags several years ago in St Louis. They charged me $8-$9 just to allow me to enter the parking lot. I ask what type shuttle would take us to the main gate from the car. No shuttle unless I wanted to pay extra and park in a different area???????? I ask why they were charging me to park in their parking grounds and charge me near $180 again to get in the park.
As I explained to them. I just bought a new washing machine at Sears the week prior and Sears did not charge me to park in the parking lot to enter the store and spend $400.00 - they had no answer.
Have not been back to SF - suppose we all have our expectations...
