Somehow, my pin came out of the Emergency Braking system near the hitch of my Camper. The one that locks the brakes up. Only way I noticed was that my truck is telling me to Service my Trailer Brakes (New 2500 HD). Anywho, can I just put the pin back in? Or is this a dealer thing? I already tried, but It didn't go in, and I want to be sure that I can do this here before I go forcing the issue.

You should be able to line the pin up and push it back in.

push it back in.... some require a hard push... make sure you have the grooves in the pin aligned with the grooves in the switch.

Assuming the pin isn't round (some old style where round pin, newer ones the shaft looks like a I), try rotating the pin 90 degrees then push in. It should click in. Sorta like you have the I in this direction (up and down) or layed on its side.

I'm glad you solved the problem! At least it didn't happen to you on the way into a gas station! We were at a gas station, when a 5ver pulled in, then suddenly screeched to a stop with the trailer still partially out in the road. The owner was frantic, and he and DH were trying to figure out why the brakes had locked up (he couldn't move the trailer! I then casually asked if he'd checked the emergency wire (whatever it's called), which hadn't occured to either of the men. Voila! It had pulled out during his tight turn and once the pin was reinserted, they were back in business. The man from the 5ver looked at me like he couldn't believe that a woman could possible solve his problem - LOL

It should push right back in. I've popped ours out before accidentally, and it went in with no effort.

My Dh has accidently pulled our brake pin twice while unhitching. Both times he just crawled under the trailer and found where it plugs in, I would imagine they are all similar for that.
Good luck.

They all work the same way; the pin breaks the connection when it is installed and the contacts close when it is pulled out... and you most certainly can put it back in. I have heard that it isn't a bad idea to pull it out once in a while and verify that it still activates the brakes (while not moving of course!)

Yeah its old, and it wishes it was a Super Duty, but it beats makin' payments!
