Going thru Kentucky I bought a couple of package of Kentucky smoked bacon ends.
It smelled wonderful and tasted even better than any bacon I have ever had. The meat part of the bacon looked a lot redder than what I have ever seen, but the clerk said that was because it was so fresh, just smoked the day before.
I was in the process of throwing the wrapper away this morning and it had what I thought was a picture of a pig's head BUT upon a closer look it was a picture of a WILD BOAR fangs and all.
Do Kentuckians use wild boar for their bacon and did I just eat one?

I think you have a wild imagination no way is some one shooting wild
Boars and packaging the bacon, first place it would be against the law to sell wild game and their wouldn't be enough to go around,
it's just a advertising ploy,

There's farms that trap and raise wild boars and sell the meat. Not sure of the exact brand that he had though.

Down here in central Texas, the wild boar problem is so bad, that some of the ranchers are shooting all they can and home processing them into sausage, chops, and bacon. Can't be sold obviously, but if you are lucky enough to know a rancher, he might be persuaded to give you a few pounds. Good Stuff!!!
Oh yeah! half boar sausage and half ground venison, stuffed and smoked, is to die for

Next time, go to Camp Cooks and Conieseurs and get the recipe for chicken fried bacon or chocolate dipped bacon....then you wouldn't care where it came from - hog, boar...same difference! Ha!
