2005 Chev 5.3 Supercharged 395HP 425 T hp. Two wheels on front, 2 on back. one seat, tint windows. front and rear bumpers, headlights, windows. Door on each side. Heater, floor mats, junk behind seats, some dirt. Pulls so hard.

I doubt they will be coming anytime soon.
It makes more sense to put the diesel engines in the half-tons and larger SUVs first.
And, don't forget, the oil companies don't want them to.

In spite of Supercharged's need to create a rise from owners of diesel trucks, his question has some merit. We're all mad at oil prices and still fuming because our expensive gas guzzling SUV's and half ton pickup trucks are not in much demand now. 2 years ago we bought in record numbers these vehicles and wouldn't have purchased high mileage diesel powered smaller trucks, now that the economy promises to cause a lot of unemployed people and with fuel prices showing no sign of being affordable again, we want what only a short time ago wouldn't sell if it were available.
It takes years to develop an approved new vehicle. Especially one with a completely diferent powerplant. Now that the "times" seem to confirm a small diesel in a mid size truck makes a lot of sense, would we even buy it? Could it be made to sell for much less than 25 to 30K. Maybe not. Would a large percentage of population be willing to spend that much money on something new? Maybe not.
I believe we'll see those trucks many are asking for, but it won't be for quite some time.

I read somewhere that the Ram was introducing the small Cummins in 09. Fact or fiction? I have also read that some of the "imports" will be having small diesels (I know Honda is introducing diesel in the Accord and Odyssey for 09), and too boot, their fuel economy will be better than hybrids, AND they will rival the emissions of a hybrid, yes, hybrid. I also heard somewhere that the Corvette will come out in a diesel as well for 09, and if it's a hit, they will only offer a diesel! Which, if you ask me, a diesel offers way more torque/hp than conventional gas, just gotta get used to the rattle and smell! lol

This is actually a topic worth discussing. It would be nice for someone to offer a small pickup with true utility and good fuel economy, something that virtually no small truck has today. In fact, there really are no small trucks anymore. All the midsize trucks have much bigger, more powerful engines and larger, more comfortable cabs than compact trucks of yesterday, but as far as utility goes, they are not any more useful than the 100 hp four cylinder trucks of 20 years ago, and they don't get as good of gas mileage.
I keep hearing that Mahindra is going to import a compact diesel pickup. If they can meet the US emission standards and keep the price reasonable, I'd strongly consider one for a daily driver.

What smell? Shake is non existant. I have no idea what wet feet and dirty carpets mean and the rest of your comments about cost of maintenace and repairs reeks of ignorance about a subject you appear to be clueless about. What does a chain on a wallet have to do in relation to someone owning a diesel? If you like your gasser good for you thats all that counts in your own narrow minded world. Just sounds like you are not pleased with your truck and you have to let everyone know about it. Go ahead and get a new Dura Max, then you will realize how silly your posts really are.

'Ol Super would need a diesel....if he had anything to pull. He's just likes trolling, and I don't mean in a boat. It's just that right now with the price of gas and his 6-10 mpg, he can't afford an RV. He's funneling all of his money into feeding that gas guzzling underpowered little 5.3L minivan motor.
His wimpy little gasser will do for the non-existant hauling he does. When he buys an RV, he'll ditch that truck, and give it back to the little old lady he's borrowing it from, and she'll use it to go back and forth from bingo and bridge games.

Everybody is running around in a truck twice the size they need and yet can't stop talking about how much it cost and they can't afford the fuel. The last 10 years the salesman had a field day. Here comes one in the door now, I'll bet he will pay over book and he looks like he would pay 120% of value and put the down payment on his credit card also. You take him Frank, I will get the one coming in the other door with his cap on side ways and a Bears jersey on. I know he is a diesel man.After we sell are of them this model, we will do it over again in a small model, and then back to the larger after that. They like them long and high, lets lower them next year, we haven't done that for awhile, we will tell them it looks better a the bar.
