Move out while you can. I've been thru a hurricane, not something I would do in an rv. It wouldn't take much to destroy and there will be a lot of stuff blowing around, it won't matter if you are half a mile from the closest tree, an unbelievable amount of rain. After it's over it might be a week before you can get out or have power and water. If you don't have supplies for that time you will be in line for MREs and bottled water. Not worth it when you can easily avoid it and then return if there is only minor damage.

Have you seen what an 80 MPH wind can do to awnings even when rolled up and locked? I have, and it's expensive. I have several friends that store their MH's outside and with our Hurricanes most of them have had awnings torn off. If your are going to be in the path, the RV park will probably be evacuated anyway. RV's come under high risk for evacuation same as mobile homes. If it does hit there, then you are going to be without power and most of the roads will be closed from down trees and power lines. Not what I would call and enjoyable vacation, I would be moving west.

Well we live in Ohio and when the remnents of Ike came through the state it caused severe damage with 60 mph. winds. If it were me I'd opt for the safety first and leave till it passes. No need to be John Wayne.

We were in Hurricane Bob (1991) on the NW side of Mt. Desert Island (home of Bar Harbor) in our 45' sailboat. Luckily, cottage owners invited our family (4) to spend the night ashore. Thank the Lord. After that night, during which we watched the yacht swing on her three anchors (left the masthead tricolor light on for this purpose), we thought we had lost her more than once. She was fine, but the floating dock and ramp across the cove were destroyed! (Our stand-up toothpaste tubes tipped over -- the extent of the damage! LOL) But we'd never want to experience that again. A MH is way less strong than that boat. Sat through 35 knot winds on the WA coast last fall in the MH. It was not pretty! We were fine, but that much wind is very stressful. Forget a hurricane!

Make sure your water tank is full as the CGs use wells and will most likely be without power. The last I saw was it was to hit around Eastport which is as far north as you can go on the coast so BH might not take a direct hit. either way I would pull in the slides, and disconnect from the power in case of surges.

LOL, you have to love the fire alarm pullers here at RV.net. Has anyone even looked at the track of this Cat 1 Hurricane? The only land it will hit is sparsly populated land in Canada, and even then it is predicted to be a Tropical Storm when it hits.

Got to love it when people from Michigan and Nebraska, etc are giving advice about hurricanes based on what they have seen on the "FOX EXTREME WEATHER CENTER!!!!" or its CNN equivalent.

My family evacuated from Hurricane Rita. Know how many deaths were the result of a direct hit from the hurricane? 7, yes 7. Know how many died in the evacuation process? 113.

The media has gone too far. If the hurricane is a Cat 4 or 5, yes everyone needs to be out. But going crazy when there is nothing to go crazy about, when 40-60 MPH winds are predicted to hit an sparsely populated province in Canada is when people die.
