Sometimes true facts are a lot stranger..

This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner
was Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City , Oklahoma ,
who purchased a new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On
her first trip home, from an OU football game, having
driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control
at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to
the back of the Winnebago to make herself a sandwich.
Not surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway,
crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly, Mrs.
Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the
owner's manual that she couldn't actually leave the
driver's seat while the cruise control was set . The
Oklahoma jury awarded her, are you sitting down,
$1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually
changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just
incase Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also
buy a motor home.

This a bogus urban legend disproved many times. Not so far fetched anymore though.

I thought it was bogus. Did you see the one about Congress bailing out Wall street? Like, Dah! Who is going to believe that one?

Too bad somebody flunked math... 85B/200M = $425, not $425,000.

85 billion divided by 200 million is 425 dollars. Makes 1 months payment on trailer and gas/food for weekend trip.

Some folks can't math... 425 is about 1/2 month on this rig.

As for the original post.. Several myth-buster groups like snoops.com have investigated and not a one can find any official record, Winnabago says it never happened. Cute story but it's a bit like the story of the thief who went to siphon some gas out of a motor home and got the wrong tank.

Think about the openings in said tank

There are two you could Siphon from

And I don't think he took the cap off the roof vent.

And though much gas gets passed at the other opening.. It don't look much like a gas cap.

The 3rd opening to that tank is down below and the 4th (if any) you can't stick a siphon hose into cause it's blocked

There are three kinds of people in the world. Those who can do math and those who cannot.

Although that Winnebago story has been around forever...its NOT so far fetched, I mean after all if you can pull through a drive-thru at Michey D's order a HOT cup of Coffee, proceed to spill it on yourself as you drive away and then get awarded millions because you got Burned......Beats me!

To The original post, I heard a similar story when I was in high school. I'm 66 so it's an old story.
only the driver was a exchange student and a van.
I did one of my many mistakes when I was stopped at a traffic light and I
put my van in park or so I thought moved to the back of the van.
The van proceeded to slowly roll into a car behind me.
