We were on vacation last week obviously in a campground. We had a 12-13 hour drive home going to do it one day. We have 2 year old twins and with the desire to pull out early to get home as close to dark as possible we pull out very early. how early does one feel is to early?

Guess it depends on how noisy you are and how noise travels where you are staying. We've left before 5am some days to avoid am rush hours. But we just pull up the levels, unplug the cord, and are on our way. No deisel to warm up etc.

I would leave about 7.
I would suggest doing most of the disconnects the night before you don't make too much noise for neighbors if you leave before 8:00
Do you wake up grumpy in the morning? No, I let her sleep!

I think all of us understand the need to sometimes leave very early. As long as you are quiet as possible, most people will be OK with it. But don't crank up the diesel and let it idle for 30 minutes before you are ready or bang around outside other RVs stowing your stuff away. Just be considerate of others nearby. Get everything ready you possibly can the night before so you can leave with minimal noise the next morning.

Ditto on the above...leave as early as you need to, just do all of the "packing" the night before, in the morning, just disconnect and go.
I'm careful about closing RV and truck doors gently and keeping the voices down.

I had only the water line and rear stabilizers to pull up. Had the truck to were I only had to raise the 5'er about an inch and back the truck up about 8 inches and were locked and loaded. Raise the landing gear and we were off. Plus run 2 slides in. We were as quiet as possible even started the truck, backed up the 8" to hitch and killed it for the couple minutes I needed to check everything. Campers are very close like 12' apart. We pulled out at about 5:45 am and I was very nervous I hate to wake anyone up. But then no one seems to care when they are backing in at 11-12 at night with someone shouting directions.

I agree with this. And even if it looks like you're trying to be quiet (whether or not you're completely successful), most folks will give you the benefit of the doubt.
We've camped in our PUP and HTT, sleeping in tented bed ends, in CGs and have often been amazed to wake up and find our neighbors - not all that far away - have already left in the wee hours. And I'm a light sleeper!

When we have to get an early start, we cleanup, loadup, and hitchup the night before then idle outta the CG the next morning.

I don't believe anyone should be bothered by an early departure (unless you're very noisy). It's what's expected in campgrounds/rv parks. RV's come and go. Diesel motorhomes require a certain amount of time to build air before they can move but it shouldn't be excessive, but that's a normal noise also.
If people have problems with normal campground/rv park noises, perhaps rving is not their thing.

do you have a diesel and are you parked next to me? If so, don't leave before 9 am.
