We bought a 7 yr extended warranty $900.00. W ewere anticipating lots of use on our Springdale. Couple of problems later and I've gotten my money back. Yes I'm very happy with the companies sewrvice and with my Springdale. But I'll admitt I had a hard time parting with the money but glad I did.

Yes, put $50/month in a separate savings account and call it "emergency repair funds". That way you keep your hard-earned money and use it (with interest) when you need it.

I have never bought any kind of an "extended warranty." Whether for an RV, vehicle, or washing machine. I have always covered my own expenses. At this point in my life if my engine blew up in the truck, after shelling out the money I would still be way ahead in the game. The winners with these policies, contracts or whatever you want to call them is always the insurance company (or whatever they call themselves). But that's what works for me, we all have our silly little quirks that we like to blow our money on and it's just that this is not one of them for me. If it works for you, go for it.

I would not buy the extended warranty for my fiver because I believe that the things that are covered will probably not go wrong. However, my brother bought a used class A Bounder Turbo Diesel & paid about $5000 for an extended warranty. He has gotten every penny's worth the first time he used the warranty. His transmission had to be replaced. With a motor home, there is mkore reason to consider the warranty. Another idea is to buy a fiver with a good factory warranty. That is why I bought Jayco & would buy from them again. Every problem that I could not fix myself inexpensively was covered.

Very true..but read ALL the 'fine print' very carefully. More that not many of these are "not covered" or there are stringent conditions placed upon them that make it very difficult to get reimbursed.
Lots of discussion re extended warranties, I'm not in favor of them. Dealers are not looking out for your best interest. These are big money makers for the dealer.
Ditto on all the above!

I have the Good Sam ESP. I had it before on my other trailers and used it once to replace a fridge that died. Over time the cost is not bad. It is like any insurance. If you never use it is okay but if you need it, it is better to have than not.

We opted for a 7 year on the FW for < $100 per year- if we don't use it we should get our money back-
FWIW, we have 2 brand new LCD HD televisions as a result of having extended warranties...
the 1st was the 17" we bought in Nov, 2005 for the FW bedroom which stopped playing DVD's in June 2008. Circuit City refunded the full purchase price, and we were able to get a 19" LCD with DVD player with 720p HD, plus another extended warranty with money left over to boot.
the 2nd was the 26" LCD we bought in Nov 2006 for the FW living room, and when we couldn't get the HDMI port to work, Best Buy refunded the total purchase price for that- we ended up getting a 32" 720p that fit in the same area as the old 26", we had to pay another $130 for the upgrade, but it was worth it.
We've had our dishwasher and refrigerator in the stick home serviced under extended warranties as well.
We bought the Champion at TSC just so we could get the extended warranty...
So, we're a fan of extended warranties-
To each their own...

IMHO, Consumer Reports is not always right, take input from them with a grain of salt....

Incorrect...
The price has gone up this year - at least for Cedar Creek. I have included a 2nd year for my customers free of charge and both times it cost me $250. Yes, it used to be $150 but like everything else this summer - the price went up.....
