I was wondering if it would be harmful to give her frontline early. we are going camping and I would like to have her protected while we are camping. She is due to have it put on her on the 4. Thanks for all of yur help. Judy

Hi Judy!

By "early" do you mean less than 30 days from the last application or did you apply it almost 90 days ago? That will make a difference in the risk factor.

It is my understanding that you can apply Frontline every 30 days if you want it to protect the dog from ticks, fleas and chewing lice. Less often if you are only worried about fleas. Here is a quote from my package

" When used monthly Frontline Top Spot For Dogs completely controls both fleas, tick and chewing lice infestations. Research demonstrates that Frontline kills adult fleas for up to three months. If there is a high risk of reinfestation or if the pet has fleas which may cause flea dermatitis, a once monthly application may be needed."

I take that to mean a maximum application of every 30 or so days. Now... with that said & quoted from the package, I am a pet owner who divides the weight appropriate dosage and applies one tube split between all three of my dogs every 30 to 45 days...and yes in Oklahoma (flea & tick America) it is effective that way. So my short answer is less than 30 days? Not for my dogs, I just don't over medicate them with anything for any reason.

I understand anyone who doesn't want pests on their pets but we have to understand that applying these topicals isn't without risk of applying too much. If it's less than 30 days, to be honest, I would wait to apply it again.

Best of luck with whatever you decide!

During peak flea season, with very bad infestations I've recommended more frequent use, every 3 weeks in rare instances. If you dog is closer to the mamimum weight for the size, shouldn't be a problem as long as she is healthy. A few days isn't a problem.

Hey Judy,

Why can't you just take the Frontline with you and put it on her when she is normally due for it???
