Looking at spinal decompression. Anyone undergo this procedure? Any results to relay?

I will try to answer this again, seem to be having trouble getting this website to work. I had what I believe you are talking about for severe sciatic problems a few years back. You are strapped to a table with belts around your waist and chest, and the table stretches you out as it spreads at a set poundage in an alternating extraction and resting phase over a set period of time. It is pretty expensive, but it did seem to help some, or it could have just been healing with time. There was some internal problems in the clinic, and the place closed down when the doctor left. So then I bought an inversion table like they sell at Costco at times, or other places and hung like a bat for 30 minutes each AM for over a month. It does the same thing, only cheaper. It did seem to take care of the problem, or again it could have been a factor of time healing the problem. It took about 4 months to get back to where I thought I could live again from the start. I really sympathize with you, good luck.

I know someone who did it. Not covered by insurance - $5000. Heck, the ads in the paper down south didn't even given an address or doctors name - I was wary!
Results: The person who did it thinks it helped"a little", but he's still compaining of the same problems and going for manipultions and therapy as often as before.
I'd look for MUCH MORE data and reports - and for the isurance company to accept the procedure.

i had it done on a table where they strech you out, also had a inversion table i bought, it did work for me for awhile about 2 weeks or so then started again still have the same problem today many years later and will have it the rest of my life there was no sure cure for my problem.

Thanks for your thoughts. My chiropractor said the inversion tables just stretch the muscles and, while helpful, don't increase the space between the disks.
The $5000 price is correct. . . I was quoted $4950 for 20 sessions, but I (of course) need 30 sessions which is over $7,000.
I did not commit to it at this point but am undergoing chiropractic adjustments every day until we leave to go south (2-3 weeks). In theory, the decompression should help me a lot, but I am skeptical as to how long the results last.

Believe it or not, but my back issues were resolved by purchasing a select comfort air bed.

I did try that. After 10 days, I could only crawl out of bed and couldn't walk across the room. Now I sleep on a $20 air mattress from Target. I miss my water bed, but DH says we can't have one in the motorhome. 
So now I can sleep well, but it is not a cure for an L5 compression.

I've had a Sleep Comfort bed, both at home and in my MH, for years. It's a great bed but sure doesn't help my back.
Before you spend $5k on a chiropractor's decompression table, I recommend you spend a few hundred ($200 - $1,000) on an inversion chair/table. I just ordered one today. If it works, great. If not, I'm only out $250.

My husband just had 19 visits for VAX-D, spinal decompression. It did not help him and the cost was $3400.
However, we have a friend who went through the treatments 2 years ago and was very successful. He is still doing well.
