The KOA I mentioned earlier was just sold to a corporation that has a few other non KOA CG's in the area. Those other CG's charge an $8 per nite resort fee. I don't mean to sound like I'm sticking up for KOA, but around here you have your good and bad, and it doesn't matter who's name is on the entrance gate.
what on earth is a "resort fee"? If it is because the place is so posh, why isn't it just part of the basic rate? Or does it entitle you to some amenities that otherwise wouldn't be included? If it includes 9 holes of golf, that would be reasonable.

clarasgrama, until you study the history of my attacks on KOA and its funding of its lobby group, ARVC, please withhold your comments until you learn the truth about KOA and its politcal posture of trying to FORCE rvers to stay in their parks.
Personally I stay in some KOAs, but the truth should be known of their interests. If you dont like the comments, just click on hide member and you will never have to read my comments again. How about that? Learn how they add extra charges to their member parks to support laws trying to FORCE rvers to use their parks. The truth will set you free and the OP posts is not the truth.
View past post of others and you will see who the cg owners are that clamour the good and then you will see an agenda biased towards them.

let me see, it is an industry association that tries to support it's industry. Oh yes, dang commies.

Using backhanded laws, and money from the rvers themselves to line their own pockets is wrong. You call it what you want. Organizing owners of local areas to raise prices is antitrust. There are many , many things that KOA does to seperate you from your money in various ways, that have nothing to do with the american way. If you think suiing a state cause the rvers are a health hazard, and asking for laws to force rvers to use member campground only, is right, then yes, bumpy, we will always disagree.
Study the court cases, form your own opinion, but dont try to force your opinion on me, and Ill do the same, Ill just post my opinions and facts, you decide.

There is absolutely nothing that KOA or ARVC can do that would force me to do anything. If you are talking about them advocating in opposition to free parking at Walmart, et. al., that is one of the things trade associations do and is a characteristic of the free enterprise system.
So then you would support Cracker Barrell to hire lawyers (and raise their prices to pay for it) to force city, cty, and state to make and pass, laws, to prevent me from cooking in my own kitchen and having to use their facilities at their prices, RIGHT? You would furthur support Cracker Barrell to organize all eateries in town and raise prices to what they want them to be?
Are you familar with the case ARVC vs the state of Ill , or the local rv park v the city of Laughlin, or the ARVC vs the state of Nevada, stating and asking for laws to make rvers use RV PARKS only due to health hazards? By the way, thats just a few of them.

now you are getting down right silly. but that's JMHO.
I remember post a few years back concerning a Wyoming KOA and Wal-Mart parking. folks were whining about the KOA price, then somebody posted that since the KOA was full they went to the other campground in town. they reported that it was not as nice and was more expensive than the KOA was.

Bumpy, my mistake, this campground only charges a $3 a nite resort fee. Their other CG is closed this season and they charge $8 a nite. At least they mention this fee right on the web page.

And you dont think KOA trying to force rvers to use their member parks only BY LAW, using health codes IS SILLY ?

YES and do you remember that the owner of the KOA went to the city council and asked for city ordinances to passing laws, that would REQUIRE rvers to use only RV PARKS in town? No rvers could stay overnight or park for more than 8 hours UNLESS they paid an rv park? You like that huh?

but why isn't it just included in the base rate? is it an add on for something?
from that link, RESORT FEE - A $3.00 per night resort fee applies to all camping and rental reservations. Friday & Saturday must be reserved as a weekend package. No Saturday arrivals., it appears to me that that is a reservation fee, which is not completely uncommon. shucks that one place charges to make reservations in state parks, etc.
