The blue lines are the factory numbers, the other colors are when the tuning has been installed, ignore them. The solid line is hp, the dashed line is tq. Sorry that the images a a little small and "blurry". I had to take a "snapshot" of them to post them as .jpg images.

Dodge/Cummins 6.7L:

Duramax LMM:

Ford 6.4L PSD:

A few things stand out to me. First of all, the Cummins makes over 500 lbs-ft of tq across the graph, starting much lower than the others.

At 1750 RPM, the numbers are as follows:

- Dodge/Cummins -- 176hp / 527tq
- Duramax LMM -- 146hp / 436tq
- Ford 6.4L PSD -- 134hp / 401tq

That would be ideal for towing, loafing along in 5th or 6th, and resisting downshifting.

Mid range power is as follows (2250 RPM):
- Dodge/Cummins -- 224hp / 521tq
- Duramax LMM -- 232hp / 538tq
- Ford 6.4L PSD -- 214hp / 499tq

This would represent one downshift, maybe when climbing a steep grade with a trailer.

Peak power output is very similar between the three.

- Dodge/Cummins -- 304hp / 529tq
- Duramax LMM -- 302hp / 541tq
- Ford 6.4L PSD -- 306hp / 529tq

All very, very close.

What say you?

Interesting dyno charts on the three 08 diesels from Ford/GM/Dodge.

As my eyes aren't too good at reading the fine print on these charts, could you summarize or list the H.P./Torque readouts at the different RPM ranges for each make/diesel for me or possibly others that our interested?

I guess what could also be considered interesting is that without touching any of these things a wrench, you can get ~ 400hp and 700tq at the rear wheels by punching a few buttons and 5 min of reporogramming time...

Imagine any of these engines sans DPF, EGR, cat. converters. Even strangled with the smog gear, they all have a hell of a lot of towing ability. For poops and giggles, after letting the engine and tranny come up to operating temps, I turned off the TCS(traction control), stood on the brake pedal, brought the RPMs up until the back tires just started to break loose and took my foot off of the brake. Actually spun all four rear tires, the acceleration rush felt almost like a cat shot. Not a clue how quick, but I bumped into the speed limiter(about 80mph)in a very short distance. For those pining for the old days, no thanks, we got it too good today. Power, reliability, comfort, structural strength, all wrapped up in a purty pick-em-up.
The 6.4 does need to be spun up to produce the power, most V-8s do, and it keeps building without a sudden let off. Waiting to see the 6.7 Scorpians #'s, hear they may reach well over 700 pounds and better fuel mileage.

The dyno chart for the Dodge shows it to be the 3500 to 5500 Chassis Cab. That engine is derated to 305 Hp and 610 torque, not the 350 Hp/650 torque engine used in the 2500/3500 pickups.

Thank you for the additional info on your initial post/page.

I can read that very clearly. I'm living with tri-focals as result of numerous eye operations.

By the way, the Cummins Torque curve is about as flat as one could possibly get across the total RPM span. Thats very impressive!

The fact that the Cummins is over 500 ft/lbs of torque at 1,750 rpms, is impressive, as that is very close to where my towing rpms are when cruising on the freeway around 55-60 mph., and the tranny is in OD while also in Tow/Haul mode.

The fact that when I'm climbing a grade and my Cummins doesn't normally downshift unless the grade is pretty steep must be attributable to that continuous 500+ Ft/Lbs torque across the whole RPM spectrum.

Even though I own an 05 Cummins......I would assume that my Torque curve must be pretty flat also, but possibly a little lower in numbers than the 6.7 cummins.

Although I cannot see the charts here at work, I find the written numbers on the LMM hard to believe. The LMM makes peak TQ at 1600 rpms, not the 2250 rpm that was typed. At 660ft pounds at 1600 rpm, the LMM should be at the 20% loss mark, or 530-540ft pounds at 1600 rpm as the 2250 rpm numbers show. The reason is probably unable to lock the TC on the dyno.

I have the hypertech on my dodge 6.7 in my sig. With my stage 2(econ program B) setting not only did I go to 400 hp and 738 ft lbs but my MPG's went from 15.6 to 19.3 all intown stop and go.Bye the way the dodge chart is only for cab and chassie trucks with a derated(less powerfull) version of the 6.7. The stock HP&tq on the regular passenger trucks is 350 hp and 650 ft lbs.
