Am I the only one who thinks Harpers Ferry KOA is the biggest ripoff of the century? $51 a night for a gavel and mud site, no cable, no 50 amp and tree branches that make it impossible to adjust the TV antenna. I've paid much less for resort camping with concrete pads and roads. Matter of fact, the place we are now is such a place and the cost is $41. I think we wills tay at fewer KOA's.

Seriously; my recent experience with KOAs has been the opposite. We have stayed at several on this trip and liked them all.

We liked the Harper's Ferry KOA. It was well-kept and the swimming pool was beautiful. We like trees when we travel and would rather NOT have a concrete pad. My only complaint was that they were having wifi problems while we were there. Would I go back? Yes.

We liked the wooded sites there. We were right next to the Civil War trench. The kids liked that as well as the pool and the gameroom. We never mess with WI-FI while camping, so can't comment about that.

You are deffinetely in the minority if you look at ALL of the posts at RV Park Reviews. Some good. some bad...but most certainly NOT "the biggest rip off of the century".

Harper's Ferry KOA have great Halloween weekends for the kids, but there roads and sites can be hard to maneuver with a large trailer and could use more full hook up sites.

Wow, I can say the sites were so tight we had to pull a post out that was holding a trash can chain to get out. They had a nice lady with animals come in for show and tell but the whole experience is that we will not be going back there. To expensive and not worth it for the amenities.

Well I have stayed at the HF KOA and the site they gave me was not level; difficult to get into due to trees, right across from the lower bath house; expensive; and the gnats were terrible. The bath house was clean and so where the grounds. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Would I stay there again? Of course I would stay there again if I was visiting the National Park again. It is called location, location, location. Would I go there for a destination? No.
My point is that KOAs can be bad and good just like public campgrounds as well as just like other private campgrounds. Being a KOA does not make them inheritantly bad. Maybe more expensive but just like brand name products, someone has to pick up the tab for advertising, franchising fees, etc.
