If anybody is interested I will make somebody a heck of a deal on 3 Kenda 235 x 16 85 tires. One blew up big time and I'll keep one as a spare. The tires on the ground will be Michelin. I'm not going through this experience again. The Chinese can go merrily to hell and take their various products with them.

I put LT chinese tires on m Dodge truck that were rated for 40k miles. When I sold the truck those tires had 50k on them and still looked pretty good. So when my suburban needed tires I went and got the same tires and they have 35k on them right now and still look new. Last week my MH needed tires so I went down and got guess what..... Michelins.... dont know if I would trust the chinese tires that much.

There are NO American manufacturers of any major tire brand for ST rated tires. Makes too many sparks towing down the road with NO TIRES

On a more serious note I refuse to use tires made by folks who are trying to kill our pets or our children. I use Maxxis which are made in Thailand.

Actually, Maxxis is a Taiwanese company that makes really good tires.

The tires on my alpenlite are chinese made. Next summer will be their third year of use with no problems. I never exceed 55 MPH and keep my pressures dead on. My genset is chinese made too. Works extremely well and the price couldn't be beat. And my dometic works great too...let's see..oh!...I've never stayed in a walmart parking lot but I have stayed at a camping world lot once.

Sorry but you do not a have dog in this fight. Your trailer is a lightweight unit. It is the larger 5th wheels that seem to have problems with tires.

Not sure just what point you're making, but I don't think all tires that Cooper carries are made in the USA (if that's what you're saying). But they do have LT tires made here; I just bought 9 a couple weeks ago.

My Maxxis ST tires are definitley made in Thailand as skipnchar said. Maxxis makes other types of tires in Taiwan, I think they are ATV tires or bicycle tires.

Cooper had tires made by the same Chinese company that is currently involved in a 450,000 tire recall but so far Cooper is not implicated in the recall.

I would think the weight of the trailer would hasten the failure of the tire but to say a smaller fifth wheel is not involved would be inaccuate in my opinion. The lighter trailer would use proportionally smaller tires so the ratio of weight to tire capacity is probably very similar.

Tire Mfgrs - (Cooper, etc.)

You *-MUST-* check the country of origin!

Tires that one month were made in the USA "may" have moved overseas the next.
Example: GY Marathon.

When first posted, a thread shows as "new" and some TT & MH owners watching
the new postings will add their experiences (Chinese tires have 50K miles & doing great, etc.). Just doesn't apply to heavy 5ers.

BTW - Maxxis: Seems to be good reports here. Big player in off-road and
M/C tires. Hard to get in a lot of major market areas which may
present a problem if you need a replacement.
