Yep....I got the TV in an accident this morning. I side swiped a car that I thought had already turned onto the highway. The DH wasn't too upset, but I hope we get it fixed before the next trip. I scraped up and dented the passenger side of the truck. As for the other vehicle all they got was a small to medium sized dent and a crack in the taillight. I guess bottom line is noone was hurt. Just thought I'd share and maybe get some words of encouragement since I'm obviously feeling bummed!!!!

Well, I feel your pain. My Armada is only 2 years old, but my DW has gotten into 3 minor accidents with it. The vehicles are just chunks of metal, rubber, and glass in the grade scheme of life. Like you said, no one person was injured of killed. You'll laugh about it one day I'm sure.

I felt the same way. "Bumped" a little Neon in the rear on the on-ramp for the cross town expressway. Luckily the young woman was not hurt, the car did not even have a scratch on it. Boy I was relieved until.... I turned around and took a look at the big chrome bumper on my 1500 Laramie. Not scratched but kinda of tilted down in the back. We exchanged info, I never heard from her again. Took the truck to the body shop, estimate was $1300!!!!!!!. Holy cow. Same for two other estimates. Not much behind all that chrome.
Caughed up the dough, got it repaired. Life goes on. I would have probably blown the money on boating or camping anyway

Glad no one was hurt! Vehicles can be repaired, and if taken to the right place will be as good as new! Our Camry has been to the body shop 3 times since we got it in '05 and you'd never tell it had been wrecked!

My wife had a rear end hit in her Camry and did not get the other drivers info because it did not have a scratch on it. Next time I had it serviced I asked them to inspect the rear and guess what. $1900 worth of damage under the unscratched bumper "cover". Never again will I or my wife ever let any level of accident go un-reported. I hope the young woman in your accident got your information so she can contact you when she discovers the real damage.

Sorry to hear that. I was rear-ended just recently by a TV (Chevy 1500) going about 40. Never even tried to brake. $3500 later, many hours on the phone with insurance companies, and two weeks later my wife's Ford Freestyle was finally repaired. His insurance covered it all, including a rental.

Always get the other driver's info, even if there is no apparent damage. In my case, I called 911 and the police showed up. So they took care of gathering all the info from the other 4 cars involved and kept everyone calm (including me!). Needless to say it was a big mess. I've been screwed over before in a similar situation like this years ago and I promised myself that it would never happen again!

I hear ya on getting the info, that's very important. We did call the police (she did the calling since I don't carry a cell back and forth to work), and we both stayed put until they got there and told us to pull off to the side. Luckily I hit someone that didn't try getting out of waiting for the police. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

JIH, if you READ my post very carefully you will see that I stated that we exchanged information. Accident happened in 2001 and I still have the same cell phone number.

We had a van. Driving on 401 outside Toronto in a work area - the asphalt had been scapped off by one of those reclaiming pieces of equipement - point is the grip wasn't as good as I had thought. SUV in front stopped ... we didn't. Front of van crushed and engine hood popped. SUV did not have ONE MARK! Repair estimate $4300. It happens.
