I felt the same way. "Bumped" a little Neon in the rear on the on-ramp for the cross town expressway. Luckily the young woman was not hurt, the car did not even have a scratch on it.

My wife had a rear end hit in her Camry and did not get the other drivers info because it did not have a scratch on it. Next time I had it serviced I asked them to inspect the rear and guess what. $1900 worth of damage under the unscratched bumper "cover". Never again will I or my wife ever let any level of accident go un-reported. I hope the young woman in your accident got your information so she can contact you when she discovers the real damage.

Yeah I guarantee you don't hit a Neon with a Ram and not damage the car but do $1300 in damages to the truck. Story sounds fishy to me.

I had a complete new bumper installed on a 1999 Ram, (due to me bumping into the concrete base of a light pole), and it only cost me $400 dealer installed. $1300 in damages would have to be quite a smack.

Probably all the damage was covered up by the plastic bumper covers.
Everything popped back into place looking like nothing was damaged.

I know a guy who slid into a car in SF with his 2500.
No damage to his TV, 6500 to her car.

When my truck was 2 weeks old, I got side-swiped by a hit n run driver. She had been going too fast entering an "S" curve, it was not a blind curve so I was able to see her starting to fishtail/swerve out of control, I pulled off the road as far as possible BUT, she still hit me. She caught my LF tire, rim, trim ring and running board and a quarter size chip in the front bumper, repair bill was $2019.06 She did stop, for a MOMENT, I got the tag number, but they never cuaght her. Repairing these things is pricey, but thankfully, I got a tag number so I was covered under no-fault.
