What was it, three weeks ago that Teton Homes claimed they were still in business? Guess this puts to bed once and for all that claim. Boy did they die in a Hurry!

$6.5 million in Teton Homes assets auctioned for $1 million

CASPER, Wy. -- The $6.5 million contents of the buildings at the luxury travel-trailer manufacturer Teton Homes were sold for slightly more than $1 million at a Sheriff's auction Thursday morning on the front steps of the Natrona County Courthouse.

Zions First National Bank made the only bid for the personal property and fixtures -- except motor vehicles -- and its attorney signed the paperwork after the auction.

Sheriff's deputy Gus Holbrook stood in front of the courthouse, declared the auction open at 10:30 a.m. sharp, and read the foreclosure sale notice from Zions.

Bank attorney Harry Durham requested Holbrook to not read the more than two pages detailing the equipment, including woodworking machines, welding systems, work platforms, a 25-foot by 65-foot paint booth, ventilation systems, monorails and hoists, lockers, office furniture, raw materials, and three patents and three trademarks.

The equipment was sold as one lot, and Zions took it all.

Well my wife worked for Wachovia last week, Monday it was CitiBank, and Friday it sounds like it's Wells Fargo. Boy the changing times.

A sad commentary on how we have been let down by the system that tells us daily they are here for us. My company is deeply involved in real estate, so we went through the savings and loan mess back in the eighties. We were told at the bail out of that mess that it could never happen again. No sir, just couldn't happen. Banks had too many checks and balances, etc. for that to happen to them. Besides, the government had instituted controls to prevent such things. Right!

Add to that the oil drilling issue, or energy crisis, what ever they want to call it now, and you have to wonder what our elected officials are smoking.

Of course opinions vary on these threads as to whether some of these rv manufacturers deserved what happened to them. The fact remains that good people are now without work. They had little or no control over their fate. They didn't deserve this, and the passing of any company large or small due to greed or mismanagement at the national level is criminal, and the folks responsible should be punished to the max.

Even here in Casper, we were surprised at the news! They had been claiming that it was all rumor and that they were okay. Then the employees out there starting job hunting because they had been laid off. One of employees told us that he wasn't allowed in his office when he showed up for work one morning. Told to report to the boss where he was told that his job was eliminated! Customers have been told no warranties, service dept, or repairs. Parts cannot be had either. Seems they just slammed the door on all their customers. Also had to cancel orders that had already been submitted.
Notice in Trailer Life there is still an ad for a drawing for a new Teton home and Chevy truck? Guess the ad wasn't pulled in time.

For a solid brick on the top of the RV wall, it fell off fast.

Purchase was probably subject to all liens, so the total cost would be more. That because the lien holders have first position on titles and perhaps the real property.

This is a problem that could happen to OUR present TT, Fiver, Motor Home, ETC. Your MFG is out of business. So NO SPARE PARTS are available.. You might find some spare parts by hunting the internet, but if it was a custom part only made for that trailer, well you know the answer. As there are no laws governing the availability of spare parts in the trailer industry, as there is in the auto sector, it becomes a guessing game as to where your parts might come from.
The auto industry predicts that 600 of there dealers will close this year, or combine there business with another dealer. In our town a Buick dealer closed and merged with another dealer, And a Chevrolet dealer just closed. Both had been in business for over 75 years. So now these business will sit empty, along with a lot of people out of work. So the RV business has a lot of company when it comes to job cuts.

Even if there was a 10 year legal requirement for parts on RVs what exactly are you going to do if they go under?

Sue a non-existant company?

wow thread after thread we are quick to jump on government... the same government we elect and reelect...

they are guilty of deregulating and allowing in house compliance of the rules and laws... the exact things I hear people crying for...

while deregulating companies and placing responsibility on them without oversight, they some how grew government, grew debt, and shrunk liberty... all in our name and with our vote... we get what we allow and deserve sometimes... keep letting the fox guard the hen house and you will keep seeing more of the same...

Pogo said, "We met the enemy, and he is us."

Yes, we keep electing people who promise us what we want...loans without the need for downpayments and proof of income, pork for our state and local requests, and next will be "free" medical care, etc etc etc.

The sky's the limit. Let the good times roll.

Too bad more people do not realize or understand that this fiasco all started in 1977 and was further stuffed down our throats in 1996, And as late as 2005 over site was blocked by ranking members of the house banking committee to protect their friends in Fannie and Freddy!
Do I smell a revolution coming?
