I park our TT in the driveway all summer and my 25 ft Snowmobile trailer it the same spot all winter, so far no problems.
Our Subdivision has an ordinance which states no Motorhomes in the off season, all others including trailers are ok.
The rules must have been writen while watching National Lampons Christams Vacation.
Go figure.

here is a copy of the ordinance. I could interpret #4 being sufficed by using a cover. Any attorneys agree with me? I do remember from my home inspecting days that the local municipality has the final decision on how something is interpreted on building codes, no matter how wrong they are. another ordinance says a fence can not be higher than 6 feet. my trailer is next to my garage on a concrete pad even with the front of the house.

5.057 OS-01: Outdoor Storage; Residential

2. The wheels may not be removed except for immediate repairs.
3. The vehicle shall be stored or parked behind or alongside the primary structure in such a manner that no part
of any such vehicle shall project beyond the established front yard or required side setback lines of the lot.
4. The vehicle shall be screened from view from adjacent properties and rights-of-way.
5. At no time shall such parked or stored vehicle be occupied or used for living, sleeping, or housekeeping
purposes.

as a last resort could you excavate a place lower behind that 6 ft fence and hide your RV?

Were I live we have the 48 hour street parking ordinance. Pretty strict. No ordinance for parking on property. I wish there was. Most the neighborhoods look like storage lots with RVs in the drives (some parked at angles).

Just my $.02. Find storage and keep the real real estate looking good (we certainly would like better appreciation now days)

Sounds like if your behind your setback (usually a few feet behind sidewalk) and the RV has a cover over it, you're good to go.

anyone else buy a house in a specific neighborhood that does not have covenants and restrictions so that people can't tell them what to do on their property? Apparently there is a town ordinance where I live that limits rv's and trailers of any kind. Mine is a 24 ft travel trailer. They say that is has to be screened from view, but there can not be a fence taller than 6 ft. Obviously my trailer is taller than that, so it has to be stored somewhere else.
I don't know yet how old the ordinance is. My guess is that some councilman had a neighbor with a trailer and didn't like it so he made a new ordinance. Government sucks. Anybody have any ideas as to what I can do? With a population of 60-70,000 people, this has to affect a lot of people. This also affects people who have their own businesses where they have a trailer that they work out of. There has to be a bunch of those. I had a construction business for 3 years and I never got a warning about my construction trailer. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you're referring to a HOA (Home Owners Association) it would be prudent to determine if the HOA was in fact legally filed. We bought property in a neighborhood with an HOA only to find out later the original developer went bankrupt, and never got around to filing. It was interesting to find that all the neighbors THOUGHT they had an HOA; inactive as it was.

Based on what you have posted.
The ordinance says you can store 1 rv on your lot. Sounds like it was written to keep people from living in the RV as a 2nd residence on the property. I would buy a cover and park it next to your garage behind a fence. If some one complains then ask how they would like you to further comply with the ordinance since you have the right to store the RV. If it is an HOA I,m sure they must first ask/inform you to move the RV before a ticket or fine can be imposed. It is crazy to allow you to store an RV on your property then, in the next scentence, write restrictions that makes compliance impossible. At worst you'll have a nice cover for storage. How about some lattace work and ivy on the fence?

We live where we can park, boats, RVs and horse trailers on the lots. I think it is tacky to park any of the above forward of your front building line or on the street. They can become a safety hazard and block the view of the homes.

We chose to live on acreage lots and made wure we could park the trailer at the house.

When we built our house 8 years ago we had a lot we loved but it had that horrible covenant. Refused the lot for that reason. Bought choice #2 with no covenants. Guess you are stuck when it is a city ordinance. Hope you can figure out how to get around it.
