Now that my Yami gen is running perfectly - tell me what to do, please.
I have always used Stabil in my reserve gas tank and renewed it occasionally and ln my generator tank when it sits too long.
And, after all the good things said about Sea Foam, I intend running it thru the carb (thru the gas tank) every 6 months or so.
But what about Deep Creep (the spray form ??? ) Should I get some of this too ?? and, what, spray it into a running carb ??

I know your trying to keep that generator in tip top shape, but I think that perhaps your a bit overboard on preventive medicine. I'd just use the Stabil when necessary and run the lil' bugger at least every 2 months under some load for a while.

Deep Creep is the same product as Sea Foam just in a spray can.

Harry, I had read your post about the repair, the products that you mentioned in this post will not fix the dirt that was found in your carb.
I had simular problem when I had dumped the remainder that was at the bottom of the gas can. Cleaned dirt out of the carb and a spark plug to fix the genny.
Now to prevent future issue with dirt in the carb, I bought a small engine gas filter (see through pleated paper type) and connected between the tank and carb. You can find these filters sometimes at Lowes, Home Depot were they sell lawn and garden stuff. If all else fails check with a local small engine shop, they should be able to find a small filter that would work.

Kohler recommends 1 hour a month at at least 50% load. This not only keeps the carb clean but warms the gen itself to clear out moisture.

I wouldn't sweat it. I use Stabil and store with a full tank (to prevent condensation). One of my generators I only use 3-4 times a year, and it always starts right up. I don't exercise them monthly or bi-monthly.

I put stabil in my gas jugs and at the end of each month I put it in my car or truck and refill with fresh gas & Stabil. That way I always have fresh/clean gas for my Yammy for camping or Emergencies. My Yamaha is 2 years old and I always run the genny dry after use. No problems yet....knock on wood.

It also keeps the seals lubed, helps prevent rust (by circulating the oil) and maintains the magnetic properties of the not exactly but supposed to be permenate magnets that "kick start" the generation action when you first crank it up (Assuming it has that feature)
Fact..I once had a very nice little portable that when I first got it put out a waveform nasty enough that an APC UPS plugged into it complained... Of course this was on the first tank of gas, basically new and out of the box. after sitting for who knows how long on the store shelf.
After the 2nd tank of gas I tried that same UPS again and it was happy, less than 3% harmonic distortion is the spec for that generator and my scope showed a nice clean sine wave.
The original poor waveform was due to lack of exercise believe it or not.

Do you think it was hash from brushes or commutator?
