We are a bit confused on whether the DTV converter boxes for analog TV will pass the hd radio channels (88.7-2 and 88.7-3 FM) through along with the HDTV pass thru feature. Does anyone know?
We were hoping to get a new Dishnetwork DVR that would do it all in one box without adding the second box DTV box. We are in no hurry to purchase new HDTV's since our SDTV is good enough for us right now.

Digital television and so-called HD Radio are two completely different things.
As far as a Dish DVR, unless they have something I haven't seen, that is yet another completely different thing.
Satellite is not the same as "over the air" television, that is not the same as the FM Broadcast band.

While the DTV converter might allow the HD radio signal through in pass-through mode, you still need a splitter and a separate HD radio receiver to get HD radio, but while watching DTV, you could then not get radio. Since you need a splitter anyway, locating the splitter before the DTV box is an option and then pass-through becomes moot. Just remember, passive splitters introduce attenuation which may be intolerable if you are dealing with weak signals to begin with.

Thanks for the input. We had thought if we got one small HDTV to put on our laptop for a second big monitor, we could play the HD radio sound through the HDTV instead of buying still another box to hook up the HD radio. We will probably just do more podcasting since it is more convenient anyway.
