I agree! I have 2 big tents and 2 backpacking tents. Two were gifts from friends --- but each one has its 'good points' for various types of camping.

The cost difference betwn a hotel room and a tent site...makes the "hassle" of setting that tent up well worth it...

From what I've seen tent sites are usually 1/2 of what motel would be. The scenary will be alot nicer to. I'll find out tomorrow night but if you consider the time you lug everything up to the room and all the trips for the forgottens shouldn't take much more time. The trips for the forgottens will be alot closer.. most of the stuff won't even need to be unloaded! Leaving tomorrow at 7am the Escape is loaded to hilt and ready to go... probably won't be able to sleep tonight!!

Got to the state park ended up they didn't have no spots let. With her attitude I wonder about that. Ended up staying at a motel 6.. yuck. At San Antonio though we stayed at a KOA in one their kabins. Not too bad I even had one their cards that got 10% that I didn't know about.. I know I never paid for one so no clue. Nice pool, jacuzzi, clean showers and bathrooms. Within two miles of the alamo. I think we'll plan our trips on the KOA's if we can. Until June of 09 anyways. Even without the card it would of been better than motels. Tent camping with the baby would of been too difficult. DW really wants a Class C now or at least a small trailer till we get one.

Sleeping on the ground in a tent will get old very fast with an infant. You might be able to get a great deal on an RV this time of year, people want to get rid of them so they don't have to find a place to store them over winter. Good luck.
