If the door is not damaged too much, and you want to repair the stripped holes to re-mount the mirror assembly.

I have used a product called nutsert, they come in various thread sizes and can be installed with bolt, threaded rod and compress the blind side on the interior of the door (link to animation)

The other way would be to remove the door panel and install bolts (through the mirror bracket through the door panel) with nuts and washers on the instde of the door.
Good Luck

Putz

Putz, this just might be the ticket! The last hole is slightly dented in, but not enough to justify body work. Basically I have 4 stripped holes.

What type (Stainless steel, or Aluminum) would you recommend?

It's gusty here in the PNW, and the fricking wind just blew the gate closed enough to catch the passenger side mirror and RIP it completely out of the door as I moved forward, and breaking the gate to boot (that's an easy fix though....)

OK, I am a rookie here. When referring to the "gate", is that where the awning comes off?

I would use the aluminum ones, they are easier to compress, usually corrosion is not much of a problem, no need for a special tool

No, wooden gate from the front yard to the backyard.

What I would do is just screw the mirors back in with screws that are one size bigger, (ie if they're a #8, go to a #6).

Definately a way to go but you have the sizes wrong. Wire gets bigger as the guage number gets smaller but it is the opposite for screws.

I searched high and low in the towns surrounding me and found nothing.

So, I hope that I ordered the right stuff off Amazon:
Nutsert hand tool

Nutsert Conversion kit 3/8-16

Nutsert Inserts 3/8-16 (10 count)

Funny, how it looks so simple on a map.
Too bad there is not a traffic congestion map, or map layer in topo

Good Luck
