We have Dish network and a Movin View Stationary Dish. We would like to change over to Direct TV. In my mind, I think that if I plug in the Direct TV receivers it will automatically find Direct. Is this a correct assessment? What will I have to do to get Direct to work after Dish has worked on my Movin View?

I know that I will have to go get signed up with Direct and they might be able to answer my questions, but I was just wondering from folks that might know.

Thank you for your time.

All the ones I've seen, including mine, require you to change the setting on the dish itself. In my case it is a set of switches that have to be set. The are inside the dome on the side of the controller.

Your manual should show you where it is and what to change the settings to.

DirecTV won't know. We currently have the MV3500 Dome and it has the series of switches under the dome. I printed instructions from website and DH reset the switches from DishNet settings to DirecTV when we changed over our service 2 years ago.

Bumby is correct and so is hitchup. Every satellite dish manufacture is going to have a different setup going from one provider to another. On my Kingdome the owners manual said it had to be reprogrammed. A call to Kingdome said to let it scan for about 20 minutes and it would find the new satellites. Sure enough it did.
