The 2008 Albuquerque Balloon Festival is off to a wet start. After a fairly good first day (Saturday) we had a steady rain all night, and most of today's events have been canceled. For substitute entertainment there is "stuck RV watching". These photos were taken in the south parking area which is on a land fill and unpaved. I am sure it was not entertaining to those who got stuck but everybody got out ok.

Good weather is promised from tomorrow forward.

Don't let it dampen your spirit as you said the rest of the week looks pretty good. This is the first rain we've have in a while so while it is not good for the AIBF it is for the land. Hope you stick around for next week what a great sight!

Welcome to the Land of Enchantment!

Both of those RVs got out with help from a giant wrecker truck. I didn't see him do the fiver so don't know what he did.

I also watched him extract a second DP by dragging the rear sideways to clear some water and electric hookups, then back. It was not a pretty sight. DW shot some video and intends to put it on youtube later. I will post a link if she gets it done.

I am here also, but luckily in the Vip West area. Wet, but nothing like that.
Hopefully we will get to see the balloon glow tonight.

hwybnb, I have pictures that look the same as yours! - Big crowd watching those RVs get towed out - We got out today ok but were sure sick of the mud - we were one row west of the Premium - and our sites were soaked - but I would stay there again - it was so convinent just catching the bus to the field within a few feet of the RV - crowds didnt bother us at all
