DW and I just got back from a 4,500 mile road trip. All the way from SE Alaska to Rushmore and return with a couple of side trips. Mountain passes and all. No major issues. Had a great time getting off of the rock!
For the entire trip fuel mileage averaged 9.345, and thrown in with that was approximately 16 hours of generator run time. We probably did drive slower than most everyone else, but hey, we were on vacation!
Still haven’t figured out an issue with lack of water pressure to the outside shower, but I haven’t had much time to devote to working on that issue…
Great trip, has us looking forward to next time!

Sounds like a nice trip. That was some good mileage but you do not have an overloaded engine either.

I assume you are from Ketchikan, Alaska??? We don't see too many posters from Alaska.
We were in Ketchikan last May on a Carnival Cruise Line. Very nice town with losts of bald eagles in the area. We took a bus to a totem pole museum & carving shop, saw some black bear along the way to the historic cannery, then took a boat back for the return trip.
Funny, that bridge to nowhere was really going somwewhere. I didn't think it was so dumb an idea given Gravina island's level ground. A lot eaiser to expand the town on the other side of the river given the terrain around the town itself. I guess the "cost" was the controversy, not the need for the bridge. If you didn't have to accomodate for huge ships to pass under it, it would have been much less contravertial.

Yes from Ketchikan. Hope you enjoyed your trip to Southeast!
There is a lot of construction on Gravina, including airport runway expansion/relocation. The road is to the site of the once proposed "bridge to nowhere." Actually it was to be a bridge to the airport, and to Gravina island. The major problem was/is how to get the ships under a bridge (you know how tall they are) and (less known) how to get the aircraft over it, for a reasonable price!
As you probably noticed, we are "road challanged" on the rock, so DW and I are eagerly awaiting our next RV trip! This is our first RV and we sure do like the experience!
Later,
Dan
