Our trip wasn't as adventurous as Tiger's -- we couldn't find any great boondocking near Bishop Creek -- but we saw some mighty fine color. At the end of our trip, we ended up in Tuttle Creek, a BLM site -- so I guess that qualifies as dry camping on public land, if not real boondocking.
For some reason, I can't post pictures on rv.net --- I have tried every trick to make it work, but no go. Anyway, please feel free to take a look at my blog:
Fall Color in Eastern Sierra
Edit: I think I have figured out how to post a sample picture -- let's see if this works:

Yep, no pix. If someone has a foolproof posting technique, I volunteer to be the fool to prove it.
(Edit -- I am my own fool. I figured out that I have to use Picasa Web Albums instead of my blog as the source for the picture.)

At least the link to the blog works. But when I try to post a picture inside my message, it works once in a while, but usually not. No idea why. I follow the instructions very carefully.

Tiger, you will have better luck next year, for sure -- the only way we saw most of this color was by getting way up high, and the long steep hikes would have been impossible this year with your surgery. Hang tough with the physical therapy -- see you in September of 2009!!

Really nice! What is the name of the lake in the sample photo in the post?
