We recently did 160 from Walsenburg to Pagosa Springs in a 35' MH with a tow - no problem.

It's a good road all the way.

Road is highly traveled by RVs of all kinds and sizes. Good road all the way with two pretty good passes, La Veta Pass and Wolf Creek Pass. Both are pretty high (9,413, and 10,800) but not particularly a problem. Just take it slow and easy.

Good roads as others have said, BUT tis time of year watch the weather forecasts ahead of you. Can be heavy snow on either ass at any time! Just check at the bottom locally for condition.

Can I get a point of comparison on this route? Last year we did 70 from Denver all the way over to Utah. We were running roughly from Custer area to Glenwood Springs. As far as grades and towing, is this route (160)an easier drive grade wise?

Mike, it is not any easier than I-70, at least Wolf Creek, Wolf Creek is a good hill. Laveta pass is a piece of cake. It is a 2 lane road a lot of the way though, with some passing lanes on the passes. Pretty part of the state, just like I-70 has some great views.
