Hi, I just purchased a 26 foot 1989 Holiday Rambler Alumilite 26ft with a 460 ford engine with 27000 miles on it. Perfect condition. Runs great. I spent $5000. Was this a good price, and if not, what would should the actual value for outright sale have been. Thanks. This is my first RV and I hope to keep it for a while, I just have no clue how to work all the gizmos. I want to add a new TV and dvd player to it first. Can I just use a regular TV and plug into the outlet and allow it to be watched while driving?

Well.... if you bought it why are you worrying about what you paid, you must have thought it was fair at the time..... There is the NADA guide but I know it doesn't go back to 82 (Mine is a 82) Ours is a 29' Class A and we paid under 10,000 US for it. Are you sure milage is right, seems too low for a 89. Early speedo's would start over so it may have been around once.
If by gizomes you mean the furnace, frig hot water etc. Most manufacturers have manuals available, do a google search for the make and model number. I was lucky and the previous owners kept all documentation and bills. If you can't find anything online post make and model number here.
Most tv's are 110volt so will not work unless you have an inverter in the system. I bought a 750 watt inverter for $30.00 and it is wire to the house batteries so I could if I wanted have the tv going. Mine is wired direct to the batteries. You can buy small inverters that plug into the vehicles cigarette lighter socket but they only go up to around 300 watts. You can buy tv's that will run on 110 or 12 volts and you can either tube style or lcd flatscreens.
In most vehicles you are allowed to have tv's just not within drivers sight, or at least here in Canada
