I will hae to take pictures but I consistently get asked; Is that a Dalmatian?

We have Liver Colored Dallies and they have Liver colored Nose and spots.

They really are Dalmatians according to the AKC Breed Standard.

Walking our whippet (neutered male) and 3 Italian greyhounds (youngest is 5 yrs) very often prompts oohs and aahs over the "greyhound and her 3 puppies".

We have two Italian Greyhounds- we get the 'whippet' comment alot (a few other crazy things, but mostly whippet)...so much so that we decided to name their website www.ImNotAWhippet.com ...and we have embroidered leash's on the way too.

We have a Newfoundland, and most people want to know more about her.
Sometimes I say she is a police dog (in disguise).

I went to Sonic a few weeks ago and took Holly, my Mini Schnauzer. The car hop brought my food out and said, "Aww, is that a Jack Russell?" I quickly corrected her. Nothing against JRTs (we half-inherited* one when my Granny passed away), but GEEZ!!

*Half-inherited: We had to move in last year with my mother and grandmother when my Granny got sick. When she passed away, we remained in the house with mom.

I once had a big yellow dog that kind of looked like a Labrador retriever, but he obviously was not. (And he hated water!) He was a beautiful dog and stubborn as the day is long. People would stop to admire him and ask what breed he was. He had come from a shelter, and I knew he was truly a mutt, so I invented his breed and told people he was a Golden Kiyoodle. LOL (Look up kiyoodle in a good dictionary!)

I don't have a dog but reading this thread - I WANT PICTURES! You all sound like you have some great neat looking dogs!

LOVE the looks of the Shiba Inu's and I even know what a sckipperke is (but can't spell it apparently) and both are beautiful dogs.

The Shiba and Sckipperke are 2 i'd consider if I ever get over my fear of being bitten by them and can have another dog.

Thanks for letting me read your dog thread - I enjoyed it!

The correct spelling is schipperke.

Here are a couple of links with descriptions and pictures:

Description

Pictures

Ours have never bitten anyone--ever. We adopted our first schipperke when my daughter was about 3 and a half years old (she is now 17 years old). He was very tolerant with her--there were a couple of times I wouldn't have blamed him for biting her.

Ours have been very devoted to home and family. The one we have now takes a while to get used to strangers-but seems to accept children more quickly than adults. He has gotten used to my daughter's friends and loves hanging out with them.

If you get one, you just have to get used to the question: What breed of dog is that?

That name just gave me a chuckle. You really can see the cocker in her.

My two are easy, both Cocker's.
