I have a battery charging question. I have the standard 7 pin receptable mounted on the truck for my TT. One of the 7 pins is marked + (positive) and another is marked - (negative or ground). If take a 7 pin plug and wire it with only two wires one to the + and the other to the -. Can I then plug this in and connect the + to the + and the - to the - on a spare battery and charge the battery?
I know this might sound like a stupid question. But about electricity I need help. I would only be charging the spare battery when disconnected from the TT and just going places in the truck. Will it work?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Papa

Sounds like it would work. That is probably the wire that charges the TT battery when you are underway hooked up.

Some trucks are only wired such that voltage is supplied to that 12 VDC feed with the ignition/engine on.

Use a voltmeter to verify yours is hot (12+ VDC all the time) OR plan on only using it with the truck engine running.

Yes, it works well. I did that for a few years while I had a Pop-Up trailer.
It is not huge but the 5 or 15 amps when cruising around 3 to 5 hours sight seeing is like free power.

Yep, my dad did that when I was a kid and it worked well.
