I have had a Quad Cab (back is too small) and a Mega (back is too big - if that is possible). I agree with previous poster - a 8' box on a real "crew cab" would be great. It would be too long for my garage, but would be perfect for my 5er and be able to carry people comfortably.

bmet: yes you can still get a HD Mega Cab but not a 1500 and next year when they change over the HD trucks it goes away altogether.

Not sure why they are doing the split launch, it's not like we are selling trucks anymore!

Everyone one our plants have people on lay off and none to my knowledge are working weekends so we have the capacity to build more trucks if they wanted to.

My beef is ever since Luts was fired we can't or won't build cutting edge vehicles (note: retro is not cutting edge). The PT was all Luts as was the new Ram (02) and what was to first thing he built at GM, that's right a PT look alike.

But with the Stock Market in the tank (Dow -$369.81 mid day) it might not matter. We might end up with that "World Bank" after all. This sure is scary times we live in, hope everyone is getting their houses in order.

Whats up with the rear bench? I thought it was like the other offering from the competition. Remember, this is the first run. The 8ft oprion may be available next year. Look how long it took GM to put their 6 speed in their Silverados.

Aren’t the Fords and GM’s a straight bench all the way across the seat? I have not seen any of the new 08 or newer Fords/GM’s but I do recall that theirs do not have a notch in the center, right?

Not saying it’s a bad truck just that we could have done a lot better then we did. The interiors are fantastic 120% improvement over anything we have had. But why has it taken use this long to catch up with GM and Ford?

We also dropped the 8’ box on the Quad Cab, no tow package, no tow mirrors, come on guys don’t you think some one just might buy this to tow a trailer or boat with it?

Stupid things like this is what is killing us not quality, we got that down. We now need to give the customer what they want, not what some clown who has never towed with a truck before in their life THINKS WE NEED.

Am I right or wrong here.

Don, there has to be some sort of tow package, how else are they going to get the advertised 9100 lb. tow rating?

If you are correct about no tow mirrors available, then I agree that is foolish.

I went to Dodge.com and built a 09 and no were is there a tow package or tow mirrors. Now maybe they include the TP with the truck as standard equipment, but the three trucks I have seen on the road all had the regular mirrors.

From what I just got form the web site (Crop) and talking with Jim @ Al Smith's here's the poop.
All the coolers are now standard with the new Ram and all you need to do is add the class IV hitch to the truck. The tow mirrors will be a late option and will be like Ford and GM's in that they will slide out and not flip up. Yes full power and heated, sounds like someone forgot to give the vendor the thumbs up.

Trailer sway control Standard along with Electronic Stability also on all modles!

Trailer Sway Control (TSC) recognizes a swaying trailer and automatically applies individual wheel brakes and/or reduces engine power to attempt to eliminate the trailer sway.

Ram's competitors are content with the status-quo. Messy, dangling trailer hitch wires are the norm. Dodge has a better way. All models include a four-way trailer hitch wiring harness and connector with a convenient plug-in connection integrated into the rear bumper. NOTE: they are talking about the 4way not the 7 wire connector.

Still no long beds in the 1500 but the 2500/3500 will retain the long bed quad cab. That's something but still think they blow it in this respect.

I don't think the long bed is that lucrative for Dodge in the 1500 series. You're not likely to be towing a 5'er or hauling other major heavy loads. It's cheaper to limit options.

The 1500 used as a commercial P.U. for especially construction related businesses, will most likely go for the 8' bed, as sheetrock, studs, plywood is often purchased in 4'x8' pieces.

I have a 2500 quad cab with the 8' bed, and it certainly is handy to be able to close your tail gate when loading 8' foot material.
