One of the new features on the ScanGauge II "X-Gauge" is the ability to program in TFT (Transmission Fluid Temp) as an optional readout. Of course, your vehicle has to provide that information to the OBD plug, and apparently some do, some don't.
The ScanGauge web site does not include a list of vehicles for each of the new X-Gauge features, so...
Does anyone know whether or not the 1999 Ford F53 happens to provide transmission temp readings to the OBD/ScanGauge? Thanks for any information.

Hi Sam - Yes, it's the 1999 F-53 Triton V-10, infamous for having much less horsepower, fewer gears, and more exploding spark plugs than subsequent F-53s. My bad for finding a nice low-miles MH in great shape that happens to be pretty old. (Like me, except for the "great shape" part.)
I will call the factory, but I'm assuming their knowledge base is already on their web site which I've searched, so I'm hoping to luck into somebody who has a recent ScanGauge in my same chassis and knows the answer.
And I'm still messing around with the water heater thermostat, which will only make sense to Sam...

It works on my 2000 F53 (chassis built in 12/99).
I too have worried about the spark plugs blowing out so I carefully replaced the plugs before heading to Alaska. I also bought a $390 "insurance package" in the form of an insert kit that can be used to repair the head (without taking it off the engine) in the event of a blow out along the Alaska Highway. Like most of my insurance policies, I haven't had to use it yet.

Well you do have a 99 chassis so the scan gauge will work. As to whether the tran temp will work I would guess yes but I do not know for sure.

Let me know what you find out. I have a 1999 also and was thinking about getting my scan gauge upgraded.

It display the Trans Temp on mine. I have the 99 F53 - Triton V10 - 275 HP. You have to program the Scan Gage to display the Trans Temp. It wasn't hard to do and I beleive the instructions are on their web site.

Well there you go -- we've been waiting to hear from BobC, and now we have.
Thanks Bob, that's what I was hoping. I'll order one tomorrow. The programming instructions looked pretty straightforward.
Thanks again...
