I recently asked Spartan what fluid to use in my MH with disc air over hydralic brakes. DOT 3 or 4.

My Harley Davidson uses DOT-5. Someone had put DOT-3 in it and it ruined the seals.

I think Dot 5 is more hydroscopic and absorbs more moisture?

NO, just the opposite. Silicone brake fluid does NOT absorb moisture.

Dot 3 and 4 DO absorb moisture to keep the iron parts of your brake system from rusting (an important feature).

I would use penatrating oil and a good six-sided socket.
