Good day, all.

We've been having problems with the Suburban oven in our new 2009 Shamrock 23SS. Once the oven warmed up the pilot light would start "surging" and eventually blow itself out. The dealer happily pulled that one out and replaced it with another, but the new one is also faulty.

Once the oven is above 300 deg. F, it will only run for a short while before it simply shuts down. Once can't even relight the pilot until it cools down a bit. Sometimes this will take 20 minutes, sometimes closer to an hour. I'm figuring there's some kind of problem with the oven control valve and the mechanical logic therein, but I'm no gas controller expert.

The dealer has an inquiry in with Suburban and will receive a different oven control to try out. They were also going to try out some of the stoves on the other Shamrocks on the lot to see if they could mimic the problems.

Anybody experienced this in their own units? Does anybody know if the cooktops/ovens in the 2009 Shamrocks are a new model, or are otherwise different to a factory retooling or anything?

I'm just searching for any support or other information I can find to help out the dealer.

Have a great day!
Len

it sounds like you have a good dealer working to solve your problem. Thermocouple some time fail at high temperatures but I guess you can eliminate that if the oven has been replaced. I would think that Suburan would be providing help to the dealer. Good luck.

Yes, the dealer jumped right on it, contacted Suburban, and is checking out the units on their lot. I actually ran down to the dealer (1.5 hour drive) last week and they simply pulled the whole unit out and replaced it since we were going camping this weekend for Thanksgiving (in Canada, of course). Too bad this oven unit is crappy too.
Renaud RV in Harrow, ON is, like I said, a decent drive away from me but their history of good customer service is what helped me decide to buy from them.

If anybody has any other ideas, or has dealt specifically with this issue with Suburban or their dealer, please forward your findings so I can let my dealer know.

Thanks again.

The fact that you swapped out the Ovens points to a install problem and NOT an Appliance problem. From your description, I would suspect a ventilation problem in the RV counter/cabinet area. A simple test is to put the Oven on a work bench and fire it up. If it works on the bench, then you have a cabinet/install problem. Last would be a defective LP regulator or a problem with the LP supply lines. Are the lines copper or rubber and are you positive they are not pinched anywhere. Doug
