I am looking for information on the towability of newer BMW 3 series vehicles. I'm not getting much informtion from the dealer. I'd like to know if they can be used, transmission issues, and all wheel drive issues.

Thanks

check the owner's manual under recreational towing or somesuch. if it doesn't cover it it probably won't happen. could check with Remco to see if it can and if it can't they can make it work.

Keep in mind that when you call a dealer about almost any issue, you will be transferred to either a salesman or a service writer.
Salesmen know very little about what they sell. They "don't have time" to read all the Owner's Manuals or otherwise become familiar with the product.
Service Writers know the computer program and not much else, from what I have seen. They can enter data, and print a work order, and MAYBE, just MAYBE they will get the information correct, and what you want done will get done. As for technical information about the vehicle, fergit it. Oh, yes, there are exceptions, but I have found them to be very rare.
check the Owner's Manual for towing instructions. If "recreational towing" isn't specifically addressed, chances are the answer is No!

IIRC, BMW 3 series must be towed four up (on a flatbed) only. I could be wrong, it happens frequently.

The owner's manual for my 330 said the car cannot be towed flat. Must be towed with all four wheels off the ground.

I called BMW about my 1992 BMW 325 and they said it COULD NOT be towed unless on a trailer or dolly. With the dolly, the rear wheels had to be on the dolly and I was afraid the front end of the car would drag so I gave up on the idea.

I know 1992 isn't considered a newer car but this one runs like new and is a great vehicle. I had my first brake job done at 92,000 miles. Super car.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like this is certainly not a 4 wheels down deal
