I just now got gas today in my motor home (see signature for type). It only went up to 3/4 full until gas over flowed onto the ground. I will talk to the previous owner but I am almost certain it does not have a second tank. If it does not have a second tank, does anyone know why this would happen? Thanks,

It's full. Your gauge sending unit doesn't work right. It's a Dodge thing, they are all like that.

No, this is the first time I have attempted to fill it up. Thanks for your both of your inputs. I got the gas for $2.99 a gallon!

Maybe that's your problem. Cheap gas.

Over the years, I have owned everything from a Kaiser Manhattan to a Chevy to a Dodge to a '57 Goliath. Very few of them had an accurate fuel gauge. When full, they would indicate anywhere from 3/4 full to pegging the needle past the full mark. When pointing at "E" they would be anywhere from out of gas to having enough for 40 or 50 miles.
I you REALLY want to mess with it, you can drop the tank and tinker with the float adjustment. But, chances are, if you get it where it will indicate "Full" when it IS full, it will be inaccurate at the other end. If you bend the float arm so it indicates "Empty" when it is, it will be inaccurate when full.
Personally, I would rather have it accurate at the "Empty" end of the range.
Have fun with your "new toy"!

What difference does it make, if you know whats full and whats empty. I dont know what yours holds, but some other Dodge guy will tell you, but my Ford has 50 gal, that's sort of the standard for most of the newer Class Cs, and once you know whats left when its on empty, and its capacity, your all set. Trying to fix or improve on it is a mistake.
And I have never heard of having two gas tanks on a class c Motor Home.

When yours starts to say empty, does it mean you still have a quarter of a tank left?

I have the same problem. At certain gas stations I can not fill up over 3/4. It must have something to do with the hoses. ??????

My 2007 GS Class C would read only 3/4 full when the tank was actually full. But it WOULD read empty when the tank was empty - or at least the generator always seemed to cut off about the time it read 1/4 full.

So the high end of the gage was useless, but the low end seemed to be accurate.

My new Four Winds seems to spend a lot of time at the extremes - takes a long time to go from full to 3/4 full and the last 1/4 of the tank seems to take forever! (Of course, I haven't actually tried running it all the way to the end!)
