We are looking at buying a 2005 Itasca Horizon. It has 7.2L Catapillar engine. Does anyone have any information on this particular model and/or reviews? It seems like a quality product. Anyone agree or disagree?

It should be just a little better than my Journey. I have had no real complaints. Some minor issues taken care of by the dealer and one trip to Forest City. If it suits your needs, I say go for it....

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you have the same type of engine? Is it reliable and do you know anything about it? The rest all seems pretty straight forward. We are looking at going from a 5th wheel to a class A. We really don't want to invest in engine problems right off the bat.

We had a 2004 Itasca Meridian with the same engine and systems (purchased used). We really enjoyed the coach and engine. In fact, we were so impressed with the Winnebago systems and quality, we recently purchased a Winnebago Tour 40. I think you will enjoy it.

My sister and brother-in-law have a 2004 Itasca Horizon and have been really happy with it. We camp with them often. The Cat C-7 is a good performer. The Itasca's also have some nice woodwork. They've had their typical new coach issues, but nothing major.

The only thing I would say to check on is the paint near the roof line. There were some issues with early oxidation.

We have a 2005 Itasca Horizon 40AD and love it. We now have almost 30,000 miles and could not be happier. Ours has the 400 hp Cummins engine so I cannot comment on the Cat. However, the overall construction is very good and Winnebago customer service is great when you have questions.

We have an '02 Horizon with the C7 (actually the 3126) Cat rated at 330 HP and it has been a great motor. Absolutely no problems and good power for our size coach. The Cat is built to last and will run for hundreds of thousands of miles right along with the Allison trans, just as long as you service them per schedule. If at all possible check the service records to confirm its been properly serviced ie the Allison trans requires the first fluid change at 5,000 miles. If its not done, you will have no warranty if you should have a problem.

As far as the Horizon coach goes, we really like ours. It's built pretty well, is well laid out for good functionality and has good storage. Winnebago factory service folks will spend time with you on the phone in order to answer your tech questions.

you can also go to the winnie site and download manuals and drawings for that model. www.winnebagoind.com and then scout around. Lots of factory info there. Nice choice btw
