I love all my animals and take great care of them. That said, I always remember 1 thing. They are an animal and not a human. That does not mean I am cruel to them, but I do treat them like an animal and do not put them before humans and their needs, including mine. If I have to leave my cat alone for a few days, he has all his physical needs taken care of and he'll adjust and get over it when I get back. All this said, I'm aware that this opinion is not the popular one on this forum but I don't care....common sense must prevail. Someone must speak up and tell the truth.

And you thought this necessary to post on this thread, why?

Of course pets are animals.... geeze, nothing like stating the obvious. According to some owners they are disposable as well.

Let us remember that your truth may not be someone else's truth, like it or not.

To the OP, I enjoyed your list, thanks.

I posted my response here, because HERE is where it's being discussed. This is an OPEN forum. Many people here in the past have made statements regarding their pets that put them on a level of humans and for those of us who don't we're almost crucified. I find that PETA attitude offensive and I feel that the OP's post falls in that category. And sorry, yes, pets are disposable...they can be put down. Humans cannot...at this time. But when people call humans another form of 'animal' they do so because euthanazia is the ultimate goal. I find that completely offensive. Animals cannot create...humans can...that's why we're not animals and our lives are more valuable than that of an animal. My animals are precious to me, but human life is more precious to me.

Of course, animals can also be given away when they no longer suit some owner's needs or lifestyle.

There is something I completely agree with you about, believe it or not, human life is more precious. I honestly cannot recall anyone on this forum saying otherwise. That doesn't mean that pets can be so easily discarded for other owners as they are for some.

I just don't get your agenda of finding fault with the original post and now you've somehow twisted it around to talk about euthanasia for humans. Very odd.....

I have to agree with "Cat"... why did "ladymc53" even bother to comment ("Someone must speak up and tell the truth."). For posts that you disagree with this strongly, there is no real need to comment. Pets are just that - Pets. We all treat ours differently just as we all treat one another differently. We do not all agree on how we treat our pets. The OP was sharing something she thought others might enjoy. Her intent was not to cause a problem - but just to share something SHE thought was worth sharing.

To "dogdiva" (the OP): Thanks for sharing. I will pass this on to my pet loving friends - even the ones that treat their pet like a human!!!!

Thanks for listening.

I love my dog. She's laying in front of the front door right now watching my dad mow the yard. I think she sees a rabbit too, her ears are back in that way on her head. She looks to be happy. I think I'll go give her a hug...

The "truth" had nothing to do with the post. I think the OP hit a sore spot.

Ever hear that saying, "Throw a rock into a pack of dogs and the one that hollers is the one that got hit"?

I doubt that anyone posting here would put animal life above the life of a human, even though some of us do value our pets more highly than others. It's simply personal choice.

I do feel, however, that in an open Forum, anyone can comment, agree or even strongly disagree.

I believe that everyone has an opinion and it doesn't have to agree with mine. I also believe that I like my dogs a lot better than some people! Agnes

I responded the way I did because in the past I was told what a terrible person I was to give away a dog rather than take him with us on the road and when I decided I wanted to get another dog, someone gave me grief about it. They were horrified that I would give away an outside dog and not coop him up in a tiny trailer. That post and others like it in the past to ME tied in with the OP's original post about the 10 commandments. I apologize to the OP...ya'll are all right. My past experience colored my response to this post. Please accept my apologies.

That said, my Barney cat is fat and sassy and one cool kitty. He runs in and out of his kitty door and has the run of the whole campground - not that he goes everywhere. He definately knows where home is and jumps right into the underneath storage and comes back inside the living room through his kitty door. He's 1 set up kitty.

Because many people have elevated pets above people, is likely why LadyMc posted that. I happen to agree with her, BTW.

It's quite common, you know. Sad, but common.

I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.
