I have the factory "Jake Brake" works good. But if I were to buy one now I would get the one that uses and air compressor to operate the valve not vacuum like the Jake Brake. The belts are hard to find and the vacuum pump can fail and take other stuff with it. Also once the air compressor is installed you can use it for your airbags and to fill up tires, rafts, balls and such. Check out pacbrake's

I have 4:10 gears also. The higher the RPM to more braking you get with an exhaust brake.

Not with a Pacbrake...

I want to install an exhaust brake on my 07 Dodge 3500, automatic, I am staying at an RV park in San Diego and would like to know where is a good place to have one installed here in San Diego. Also what brand are most folks buying, I have spent many hours reading about them and there seems as there are many good ones on the market to purchase and can not make up my mind so I thought this would be a great place to ask, so any replies would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I'm surprised that you haven't been asked this yet or maybe I just missed it. Do you have a 5.9L or 6.7? If you have the 6.7, you already have an exhaust brake. I'm sure you probably know this but without knowing the details of your engine, it's kind of hard to make a recommendation.

I suppose you also know that for warranty to be denied for any after market installation reasons the Moss-Magnusson (maybe incorrect order) act requires they prove the add-on caused the failure. I can appreciate the not wanting to get into a p****** contest with Chrylser, but there may be better, less restrictive exhaust brakes out there with proven track records.

I have not been denied any warranty for the use of my Smarty Jr., they have just asked me to remove the program from the truck prior to droping it off. Prior to installing the program I asked them their policy for installing it, they told me as long as I was not using it for performance purposes, ie racing that they would normally work with a customer. But again, in my opion I think age has something to do with it.

I had a jake brake installed by dodge and it only comes with a 3/36 warranty if you had it installed before it rolls off the lot the factory or extended warranty would apply

This spring while I was in Ca. I had a Banks installed at the factory in Azusa, Ca. It took almost all day. It was expensive but I did not want anyone screwing up my truck.
I had purchased a Pacbrake from Pacbrake and took it to a shop to put it on they said they didn't want to undertake such a job. I sent it back and lost my shipping charges but I'm happy with the Banks.

I wonder why they didn't want to install the Pacbrake?

I installed the Pacbrake PRXB in my driveway in about 3 hours. It was a very easy,straight-forward install. Its a direct bolt on install.

I have the Pacbrake PRXB on my '07 Ram. I bought it from the Diesel Truck Resource. They have the best prices on the Pacbrakes.

The PRXB works very well. I can run down any pass in the NW without ever using the service brakes. On a couple of the passes,I need to use a little throttle to keep from slowing down too much.

The PRXB slows my 11,000lb fifth wheel, better than the Allison in my 2500HD slowed my 6000lb travel trailer.
